Hi, after the release of stocks 3.0 i published a ROI for the new BBs in my thread here but i have realised it would be a lot more helpful for players to have a guide also including bank investments, PIs, Caymans and the supposed 10% increase that i have seen a lot of confusion about.
For the list of all investments in order, skip to the bottom of this post.
--The Best investment you can make is still the torn city bank with the current interest rates (79% apr on 3 months at the time of writing with 10/10 bank merits). you should start of with smaller durations (1-2 weeks) when you don't have much money to invest, and increase the duration as you fill the bank. I would recommend getting 10/10 bank merits (or at least 8 or 9/10) as soon as possible, although there are some other things e.g education time that it is worth spending merits on at the cost of fewer merits in bank. Later on you can use the bank as a way of storing your savings ready for a BB purchase without losing out on any gains.
--At this point i would like to explain my understanding of the 10% increase that stocks are expected to have each year. This is not a figure set by Ched, but rather the general trend from stock markets in the real world which torn stocks are now based on, so the actual value will vary considerably. Also, even if your BBs are worth 10% more at the end of a year, you could sell them but what else are you going to invest your money in?, as all the other BBs will go up by an average of 10% too and you will want BBs over other forms of investments in the long run. for this reason i will assume that you plan on holding any BBs you buy more or less forever, and so this 10% will only be considered on buying stocks to trade rather than for BBs (which i will include later on)
--The next best investments you can make are the best ROI BBs. if you are buying, for example, a 500mil BB then you should fill your bank account, and then as soon as you have more money than will fit in your bank, take 500mil out of you bank and buy the BB, then continue to fill your bank account up again until it is full.
--PI rentals: i am going to assume that you are renting a 3725 PI, at the moment these rent for about 400k per day at the least, and cost in the region of 980mil to buy. you will also loose some time when your PI is sitting on the rental market waiting to be rented, so im going to assume that you manage to rent it out for about 300 days per year. this gives you a yearly profit of 120mil, giving a ROI of only 12.2%. Additionally your property could be rented while you are afk, leaving you with a significant amount of cash on hand for potential muggers to take.
--This also means you can earn more by renting a PI and investing in BBs even if you can afford a PI until you have all the investments above 12.2% (totaling 40billion) but if you want a vault of your own without buying a company/ using a palace with a vault then it is probably worth getting a PI earlier than that.
Edit: 4225 PIs have a ROI of approx. 16%
--If you buy stocks to trade then you have 2 options, 1 is to trade actively, looking for trends and trying to earn as much money as possible from them. this is a form of active income, which requires a bit of skill and luck, so i will not be covering it here, but it is worth knowing that it is an option and some players can and will make a lot of money from it. The other option is to buy a bit of everything (e.g 100mil worth of each stock), leave it all for a while, and then sell all of them hopefully bringing a positive return overall. This will likely gain an ROI of around 10%, and is a lot safer than active trading of stocks.
--Cayman islands earns a flat 0.5% interest per month, giving you a ROI of 6.17% assuming that you reinvest all the money back into the caymans bank account. This is lower than both holding stocks to trade and renting PIs so is only useful as a way of storing money if you don't have a vault of any kind.
--you can now buy as many increments of BBs as you like but the ROI halves for each additional investment.
Here is the full list of investments with cost and ROI (at the time of writing):
The ROI is % of cost gained per year. To find number of years to double just use 100/ROI
