I recently ran into a player who shared a harmless looking link with me which turned out to be an IP tracker. THis makes me think how can I identify dubious malicious links disguised as screenshots etc? Also what protocols shoul i follow to keep myself safe while playing?

Please share this extensively so I can compile and make it available for others. My perception towards security on Torn has changed.

You can access and set up two factor authentication (as well as other security measures) under your Settings, and then under Security Settings.

It's as simple as any other place on the internet: don't click just anything.
Torn tries their best to keep this safe, but external links are out of their control. Be sure to report anything harmful you come across.

As for it being an IP tracker: your IP being public isn't a very big deal. Every website you visit needs your IP, that's just how the internet works.
Like mentioned above, if you worry about that, use a VPN to hide your IP.
But be sure to pick a trusted service, as technically a VPN could compromise your privacy even further if it's a bad one, tracking everything you do online.

What ^ he said, dont click whatever someone random sends to you. Heck i even verify links sometimes that people i know send to me just in case it wasnt done by them but the infection link they opened somewhere.

basically just common sense helps avoid so many sec issues.
