We need more majors.

Social justice would be fun. Each basic class would -1 to a random work stat. Bachelor degree would give the work stats back and give the keyboard warrior perk. +1 like to every post you make and all down votes are doubled. Both mockable and intimidating.

Underwater basket weaving could also be fun. Each class focuses on either crafting, swimming or aquatic weapons. (Like the plastic trident). Completion would let you craft a new item for 10 energy at the docks or marina. The woven basket.

Doctorates that required high intelligence and are simple extension of existing degrees could also be fun.

Completing 4 doctorate degrees unlocking an 11th merit slot would make college seem much more significant but yeah the cost would have to be obscene. Multiple doctorates andan achievement related to each associate's degree being required might do?

Assuming this isn't a joke;

If I remember correctly, Ched actually did respond to the post grad degrees suggestion saying they weren't a bad idea. Erm, don't think I've ever heard of a "Social Justice" degree. Mostly Social Economics/Studies, Women's Studies, and the likes. Could be wrong, but I don't know that there's an actual field called "Social Justice". Underwater Basket Weaving... Doesn't... Really make sense... I don't see what this adds to Torn... Completing 4 doctorate degrees is gonna take a very very long time, I feel like at that point, you're not as worried about how high your merit slots go... I just don't think a lot of this works and fits well in Torn.

Part joke part real. Some people treat torn as a dialy or weekly login passive growth game. While they will never be on top once they finish school there's not much left for them here. College is the ultimate system for the passive ed players so a means of greater longterm player retention.
Those various degrees you mentioned are often advertised by schools as the social justice field so the field is real even if the degree may not be. Underwater basket weaving is a classic old college joke not serious but something. Torn has great balance not gonna deny that but it also has room to grow. Serious classes with worthwhile perks could change that balance too much, a couple joke classes shouldn't, plus little work to make.

I was actually just thinking that there should be a non-degree grouping of classes that all offer minimal or no work stats, but offer other smaller benefits (probably not crafting things). The "Extra Curricular" classes, essentially. There's no Bachelors for it, no intro class or anything, they'd just be classes that take a few weeks and offer one maybe two little benefits. Plus there'd be room to add to it essentially infinitely, and it'd allow for Torn to have classes (like under water basket weaving :P) that don't fit in other places.

Not saying I'm against adding classes or anything, it was just those classes that you proposed that just didn't really make sense, or at least not for an entire degree :P.
