at what point does employees efficiency hurt my company

any loss whatsoever? (example, from 150 to 140)

or anything below 100?

Ideally you want everyone to stay above 100. However it's a complicated question. It really depends on how hard you're pushing profits. You can push everything to the max to where it may require all employees at 120. Personally I like to run with some wiggle room in case someone goes inactive.

Basically it's something you need to experiment with. Each director runs their company to their comfort level. I suggest playing with the numbers and learn from trial and error.

it doesnt "hurt" you. any low-effectiveness employee is better than not having an employee filling up the spot.
you are competing against other companies, so the goal is just to be better than them.

Keeping director happy encourages good salary. If this is not the case in your company.....move on
