Baldr's basic advice
After that, you should get into a faction as soon as you can. The more respect the faction has, the better perks you will get.
at least 1 mil respect should give you some decent perks.
Once you have done that and reached level 15 where you can fly and make some decent money, it is time to start training with happy jumps.
This one does tell you to use Erotic dvds, but these are very expensive, so an alternative is to use Big Box of Chocolate instead. it does not give you as much gains, but compared to Erotic dvds it is cheaper per stat gained to use Big Box of Chocolate. That being said, if you have the cash for it, definitely use Erotic dvds.
iribuya's Happy Jump Visual Guide.
This one is a good read regarding ratios for which stats to train and how much, you should probably read this one before training.
Efficient Training Guide for 2021
At some point, happy jumping becomes less effective than other methods, this is explained in the below guide (about 400k per stats)

Very good overview of the different companies from an employee perspective.
All companies have good perks depending on what route you wish to take.
for example, Adult Novelties is fantastic for happy jumping as it supplies erotic dvds for 20 job points.
sweet shop is the same but just with cans of energy instead.
Candle shop supplies 5 energy per 1 job point at 7 stars, so also very good for happy jumping.
Not-So-Quick Player Company Job Overview
once you have gained some work stats, it would be a good idea too start going for the non player companies, as some of them has some very good passive perks that you can keep even after changing jobs. it is better explained in the below guide.
City career fast track
if you instead plan on starting your own company then please take a look at the below two guides.

But in the first few days of you new Torn life, one of the best ways is going to Bits and Bobs to buy beer.

Kayla's Guide to Making Money for New Players
After you hit level 15 it becomes much easier to make a steady income.
At this level you unlock the ability to fly to other countries.
Other countries has items you can buy and then sell for profit when you return to Torn.
Depending on how active a flyer you are, you can earn a profit of somewhere between 2-8m.
As an example, at the moment of writing this, Camel plushies in Dubai is the most profitable to buy.
One trip to Dubai for Camel plushies nets you a profit of 2.2m when buying 29 items, or a profit per item of 76k.

Note. You have 15 seconds after you land where people are unable to attack you. So during these 15 seconds you should manage to buy all the flowers or plushies you need and head home to Torn.
Note2. I would suggest renting a Private island with an airstrip as soon as you can. This will let you fly a lot faster + you can now buy 10 extra items.

These can be finished in one day:
- Defeat someone that has five times more stats than you in solo attack. ( do this one only and you will get two other Merits at the same time, it is important that you do this one right now while your stats are low as it will get very hard to do it later. Take this guy out for it. penguinbob
- Donate 1m to church, will give two Merits.
- Dump an item worth at least 1m.
- Dump 5000 items total. (ask faction members, people probably have a lot of jackets they are willing to donate, or simply buy them as they are rather cheap)
- Read a chronicle for 5-10 minutes, you basically just have to have the window open on that page for that time to get the merit. You can find them at the newspaper.
- Defeat a married couple, take out gamer_nikhil and --Annamagar--
- Defeat someone with your spouse, this one of course means you have to be married and coordinate an attack on someone.
- Achieve an assisted attack (You should not finish the attack)
- Domino: Attack him to get this honor
- Attack an npc(like Duke/Leslie/Jimmy) and help your group in defeating them. (check the pda for loot timers, people attack exactly when the npcs reach level 4, so be there 2.5 minutes before and join the attack but don't hit until the loot level rises.)
- Defeat a fellow faction member. Kill that annoying guy you always wanted to but didn't as he is in your faction
- Souvenir: Purchase a specific item abroad. To find your item, check out this thread.
- Successfully use a stink bomb to prank anyone
- Successfully use toilet paper to prank anyone.
- Successfully use dog poop to prank anyone.
- Do NOT go hunting in SA, it is only worth it during world tiger day which is once a year.
- Make an investment in the bank. (generally only make an investment for 1 or 2 weeks until you have 2b in the bank)
- Sell 1000 points on the market. Just buy 1k from market and sell it again to get this quickly
- Ignore the RNG merit, it is random If you will get it, you might wake up one morning to find that you suddenly have it.
These you need to get started on ASAP:
- Pray each day in church for two weeks maybe a few days more.
- Take a loan at dukes, and pay the interest each week. You will receive an event when you need to pay him, you do not need to increase the loan to get the merit. (takes 8-12 weeks to get the merit, so best to start early)
These take a few days but really pays off
- Casino, spin the roulette 1000 times, takes some time as you can do 75 spins per day unless you pay for a refill.
- Win 50 games in Russian Roulette, basically only do $20 bets, there is always someone else trying to get that merit as well.
- Defeat 10 unique opponent's in Russian Roulette, should happen while going for the 50 wins.
- Be online for 100 days, so each day for 100 days.
- Login on certain holidays.
