Hi all, just a suggestion, that I think would be the simplest fix to Vicodin's undervaluing.

Firstly, I think it's wrong that a drug that gives +25% to all stats with no debuff costs WAY less than PCP (for example, which gives 20% to 2/4 stats. and costs 10x more, or Speed, which costs a similar amount, adds 20% to speed and -20% to dex)

I don't like the fact that the (arguably) second-best Drug costs <10k.

The easiest fix, in my opinion, is to lower the length significantly (to 1-2 hours or similar) - This has several advantages:
- Allows people to still take their 3x Xanax per day, or take a vic for a boost in a chain, and still be able to Xan
- A shorter cooldown will help to burn through some of the oversaturation the market has.

I do understand the biggest issue this would cause (that I can think of) is the SYM block becoming even better value. Drug packs could be changed to only have x8 of each drug or something along those lines to compensate?

The other potential problem I can see is the x50 vic merit becoming easier to obtain. I personally don't think this matters much, as most heavy Vic users will have it already, and if you're really trying, it's not hard to get now anyway.

More than happy to receive feedback.

no just no
for one vicodin is incredibly common legit you can find it in the dump 24/7
second this will probably have the opposite effect and make price go down even more i mean why pay more for less
Third your drug pack logic is flawed xan will always be more valuable than vico so taking 2 of that out of a drug pack makes no sense your just going to drop the drug pack price 20% and your back to square one
this is torn economy you pay more for a f**king bag of sand than for a frag grenade don't expect any realism here

Fair points.

> for one vicodin is incredibly common legit you can find it in the dump 24/7 - Yes, but I'd say that's because it's so cheap. People dump stuff that's cheap.

> second this will probably have the opposite effect and make price go down even more i mean why pay more for less - This I disagree with. In my mind, Vic is useful for buffing for a fight, and the reason people don't use it is because xan is a better use of their drug cooldown. This way, Vic could be still useful, as a buff for a fight, or use several for continued buffs for a war or similar.

> Third your drug pack logic is flawed xan will always be more valuable than vico so taking 2 of that out of a drug pack makes no sense your just going to drop the drug pack price 20% and your back to square one - Yes, but drug packs are valued at the mean of xan and vic. If vic goes up to 100k (for example), the midpoint goes up too.

> this is torn economy you pay more for a f**king bag of sand than for a frag grenade don't expect any realism here - Yeah, I could rant about this all day. My point is that Vic is undervalued compared to other Torn items. Yes, sand is worth more than a frag grenade, but that's because A: It's better, B: It's rare.

Appreciate your input though. Not trying to be stubborn or anything. :)

I agree that it is kind of silly that such a powerful drug is so cheap but there is no realistic way of making it more valuable (Without deleting inventories) even this change would only increase the price by maybe a few thousand at best and probably only temporarily, there simply isn't the demand for them.

There are twelve million in circulation, there's thousands in my faction armoury because people treat it as a dump site and they are seen as so utterly worthless, I actually don't know how they retain their 8k value.

The long cooldown is more of a cost of boosting your stats, you have the choice of either getting 250 energy, or getting a large stat boost, having the best of both worlds is not something I would consider a good thing, especially at such a cheap price
ShadowSquid [2432061]
That's fair enough.
I guess it would only really work with a shortened cooldown if they were already at an increased price.

You're probably right. It is wishful thinking, to think it could go up!

Only 2 real options to achieve your objective.

1. Make vicodin less common. In other words, don't have it in drug packs. Heck, stop sales on it too. Have a "global shortage" on vicodin where it can no longer be bought.

2. The most effective method would be to nerf xanax. Good luck with that argument. However, it is the only meaningful change. If you check the city stats xanax use out matches all other drugs used by such a huge margin it's practically a joke for the game to have other drugs. It is extremely unbalanced but Ched will have a hard time making a transition without a total drug system overhaul, which would mean a change to core gameplay.

Another suggestion which could help use up Vicodin would be an honor bar being gained by boosting your battle stats (or a battle stat) by +X%, where X is a high enough number that thr only way for players to achieve this goal is to use vicodin in combination with other game mechanics (faction, education, company perks and potentially a battle booster like tyrosine, or future armor perks.) This would only encourage a single vicodin use per competitive user, however, but would be a cool honor. I'd call it Godmode.

A game mechanic which favors boosted stats could help too. Currently that exists in war respect gains but eith minimal impact. If the multiplier for a non-group attack win on a player with 100% higher stats was significant, like an automatic +10 respect, people would be inclined to use vicodin a lot more during both war and chain farming.

I doubt anything will ever rival xanax for mass use, and changes in that direction would be fought by slavering dogs. It seems a waste of design space to have so many utterly useless drugs, however.

I think the general idea of gently buffing the lesser used ones makes a lot of sense. At least to the point where people half consider, maybe, in a specific circumstance, using one.

General ideas:
- Make speed's speed bonus really large.
- Make shrooms do something.
- More nerve per cannabis
- More stats for PCP?
- Reducing drug cooldown definitely does count as a buff.
ShadowSquid [2432061]
Yeah. I agree 100% that reduced drug cd is a buff.

Nothing will ever be able to take xanax's throne as most used/useful drug, yes, but allowing you top actually use the others with a short cooldown seems like a sensible compromise to me.
