A book is 31 days, you get 24 liqour items a day, plus a one time 49/48 booster cooldown limit on top(you can go 1 item over 48 hours), you then lose 1 hour of cooldown due to the book finishing exactly at the hour mark which is why I subtracted 1.
That's the maximum possible amount you can take however you do need to be online during the last hour of the book.
You are right that you can go over the limit, but not by 48, as 24 of those are already included in the normal day usage. 31 * 24 (normal usage) + 25 (faction bonus, and going over the cooldown) - 1 (lost due to it ending exactly when you could take a new one) = 768.
So the faction bonus effectively gives you an extra day, doing 32 * 24 is the easiest to come to this value.
RadicalFantastic's original math was correct, Assuming you were a robot that kept your cooldown at no more than one hour every day the entire duration of the book up until the very very end you would be able to drink 2 extra days of cooldown at the end
If you use them at the same time you start the book, you can use 24h cooldown each day (31 * 24). The extra cooldown adds 24h to that. (32 * 24) But then you still have 23h on the last day, making the total (33 * 24 - 1).
