We know what each of the titles are based on, but is there any information about specific triggers for titles? Or what makes one title to be displayed over another.

They're based on your highest ranked stat among active players, so you can use things like Tornstats' player rankings as an approximation, but bear in mind this makes no distinction between active and inactive players, whereas Torn's titles are based only on players active within the last 7 days.

Also, many of the stats related to trading or investing type stuff are now hidden, so Tornstats can't see them and therefore can't adjust for results they would give.
Tycoon, Trader, Investor, maybe others, it can't compare anyone.
