Just a tip: If you get a TornTools notification that there is an egg, but you can't find one, resize your screen by holding Ctrl and scrolling with the mouse to zoom out. For me, the egg was just outside of the viewable area.
For anyone who might need the obvious stated, you can zoom back in the same way. :)

I thought it was some kind of nasty scripter trap involving invisible eggs or something.

We can detect those anti-script eggs and simply ignore them, and that's exactly what we do in TornTools.

Ched tried to blame it on TT, but people using DrN or a egg-script also had the issue without TT. Eggs can simply spawn offscreen, not some game modification hiding it like Ched posted.
