In the attack log the attacker can be seen hitting me twice with a DBK before I was able to have my defence turn.

You likely had a stack of distraction on your from s previous fight

This happens due to Distraction debuff. Distraction effect can carry over from previous fight (which it did in this case). If you receive another attack within 30 secs of receiving an aggressive action from another player, the system treats it as a group attack and you have the chance of missing a hit due to Distraction.
