Better hand and winning = more score. More people = more score. Higher bets would matter also, but not so important I believe.
Pair would give 1000 points, house could give 50k. Better to sit at the some semi cheap table with 5 people and commit to best hands and you would have it in no time.

Yup, the guide mentioned above is spot on.
The thing is, it is all about winning hands regardless of how much you lose, so playing like an all-in idiot will get you the merit much sooner than playing to gain more $ than you lose. Summary of the guide: play a lot of hands, don't fold much, go all in a lot to reduce opponents to 0 when you win for really big poker merit points.
That style of play is exactly who I want to play against as those table bullies are extra easy to take $ from.
I wish there was a poker merit for winning say twice what you lose after so many hands, for quality of play instead of a participation/foolishness award.
