Apologies if this is covered somewhere, but I've been searching the forums for a while and haven't found it. What exactly does the quality stat on weapons and armor do? Ive been less than active when it comes to keeping my gear up to date, last time I updated anything was right after armor started coming in multiple body slots lol. I am looking to revamp my loadout and armor, and want to make sure im not wasting money on a useless stat.

Quality on its own does nothing; It's just a measurement of the item's stats. Both damage and accuracy vary by up to 5 points. You get 10% quality for each point above the base one either stat.
ty, so nothing to worry about, just look at other stats
If you have the mun, for it and you're looking to upgrade, getting a RW armour set (delta and assault are cheap-ish nowadays) and a RW weapon are the play these days - better stats than vanilla (in most cases, a pen knife still sucks stat-wise, even over 150% :P)
Getting decent armour is probably best, most factions should have decent stat Armas and dbks to hand out once peeps buy their own. RW gear :)

Yeah that was the plan. Picked up high % quality and Reduction assault gear and an expose Enfield to get me started. Been out of the loop on gearing since liquid body and dual sammies was king. feels weird specing toward rifles after being melee for 12+ years lol
