generally better for "normal" or corrected-to-normal vision users, though there is risk of developing vision impairment if you use too much light mode (and don't touch grass)
The takeaway relevant to this thread is that a site such as Torn should definitely have both dark and light modes available, but it's recommended not to make Dark the default because Torn is available to the general population.
My 2 cents is that, if it's not already implemented, the website should check the user's preferred color scheme and automatically apply Dark or Light theme based on the user's preference. My assumption is that it does not, because in an incognito window on a device that prefers Dark theme, this thread presents in Light theme.
