Hey there,

Over the course of the last 6 months or so my buddy and I have been developing a "campaign" for ArmA 3. It has been a slow roll though due to real life stuff, but here soon we will resume the development and creation of it. This is being handcrafted outside of the mods and maps we are using. Our plan is for it to kind of play out like a DnD campaign, where your actions determine the future of the campaign. We have a giant "decision tree" mapping out the possible outcomes for ~10 missions at the moment.

If you are new to ArmA or trying to get into it, just know that a normal mission/operation in the game can range anywhere from an hour to 10 hours. It really just depends on the size of the task, the players, and the size of the OPFOR.

It will be "perma-death" in a sense. My buddy and I, plus some of the people we got involved with it, are all veterans of the US military (Every one of us is from the Army, one guy is a Marine.), so we are using our past knowledge to shape this campaign and make it feel more realistic. For example, we are mimicking DD and DA forms that would be used as well as other things in order to give it a more authentic feel.

Everything is being broken down for logistics, meaning there will be an actively accounted for inventory of troops (NPCs at your disposal), vehicles (land, air, and water), munitions (to include support munitions ie mortars and artillery), and support equipment (NODs/NVGs, medical supplies, etc). There will be an estimated budget for the operation which will fluctuate as the campaign continues based off of the performance of the unit. This will directly affect what resources you have available to complete the given task.

We are using quite a few mods for this, to include ACE and a lot of the advanced medical components for it. My PERSONAL recommendation for minimum PC specs based off of experience of running these mods with multiple different pieces of hardware is:

CPU - i5-6600 / Ryzen 5 3600
GPU - NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB / AMD RX 580
RAM - 16GB (32GB would be much better, but we have ran it on 16GB PC's)
Storage - HDD with ~80GB of open space (keep in mind you should leave ~100GB open on your HDD at all times, this is just a good practice because games require free space on the drive while running them. We always leave 100GB free, minimum, but other people may have a different preference)

This is a recommendation only, we have gotten this to run on lower specs but if you want over 15fps I'd recommend upgrades. We got around 45fps running it with the specs above, so if you have a better computer like us for this you should hopefully hit 60fps or higher. ArmA 3's engine isn't the best in the world, so it struggles sometimes (especially for me since I host the server and my PC is running everything.)

Mics will be required, a good internet connection is preferred but we also don't want to limit people based off of the internet access they have.

We are working on developing a Discord server for it as well, and also working out TeamSpeak for in game comms.

If this seems like something you would be interested in you can DM me for more details or just reply to this forum. I will do my best to update this forum from time to time, but I am pretty busy doing other stuff so I may space it occasionally.
