Last action and user status not updating

Multiple users in multiple factions have reported issues with the Last User Action and User Status bubbles not updating, even after page refresh. As an example:

But he was active in chat and making hits at the same time. Another use saw me as idle for 5 minutes when I was actively using this forum.

I'm on Chrome on Windows, but many people using different browsers and OSs have reported the same problem and see the same thing on the same users' profiles.

It's VERY intermittent. I can't tell what triggers it. Maybe going idle then coming back again? I finally managed to get a screenshot while it was happening:

As you can see, he was actively attacking someone, yet showed as idle on both the faction page and his profile, and last action 3 minutes ago on his profile.

At the point, the player was actually afk for 3 mins without performing any action:

There are certain "actions" (like sending a chat message) which do not update your last action.
