It gives you an additional +25% passive defense for owning the full set. You don't get 25% of the summation of individual pieces. Thanks!

I believe actually set adds 25% extra passive defence rather than 25% extra bonus of the set

That is correct. All full set bonus on armor is an added bonus.

For sentinel, wearing a full set, you get an extra 25% on top of your 140. Giving you a total of 165%.
