I have the following logs:

21:57:56 - 03/12/23 Your pickpocketing skill level decreased to 34
21:57:56 - 03/12/23 You used 5 nerve and critically failed pickpocketing a laborer going to jail for 6h 26m
21:57:56 - 03/12/23 You were sent to jail for 6h 26m : Theft of explosive equipment

I indeed failed that pickpocketing crime and got sent to jail. What I thought was odd was the "Theft of explosive equipment" message that came just before it (but coded at the same time). Is this something that indeed can happen with pickpocketing or is the double message about the jail a bug?

1 log for getting sent to jail
1 log for failing the crime attempt
1 log for skill decrease

It's just a technicality on how it's logged, nothing happened twice.

You are right, it was just a jail message. The theft of explosive equipment threw me off because I was just pickpocketing, but I guess that is what I was trying to steal from the laborer. Case closed.
