And fair point if you look at it from the artistic point of view, and I agree with you for all the contests I've seen so far (and those we will have in the future).
But I was thinking of having and judging such a contest more in terms of being able to describe one's vision in words, enough for the AI to understand exactly what you want, and render something that can stand scrutiny. More of a contest for... literary/articulation skill if you want? Not based on artistic expression.
So what I had in mind was one contest, specifically for AI generated images only. We've all seen god awful AI images, I just thought it would be interesting to see if people (those who are not fortunate enough to have natural artistic talent themselves) manage to capture the exact essence of what they want in a really good image.
