So, a bit of backstory first.
I have an autistic daughter who does not speak very well outside of her comfort zone.
This means anytime she is visiting family or in school, she does not talk if she can avoid it.
This has a knock on effect that makes her seem like she does not want to be social with friends.
I have recently let her have a phone to play with and she seems to enjoy talking to her aunt via text on WhatsApp.
This gave me the idea to build a chat app specifically designed for kids.
It would need secure login with the ability to allow parents to monitor. Be user friendly and cross platform.
There is also loads of other things that would be required.
The goal would be to have a way for kids like my daughter to have a way to build up friendship and learn to communicate and be sociable in a safe way.
Now, I have a basic understanding of html CSS and JavaScript. A little bit of react/next.js thrown in also, so by no means anywhere near at the level I would need to be to build something like this.
I am thinking about creating a git project where any developers could help in their spare time as this would need to be a completely free to access and use app.
I'm just wondering if this is something people would actually be willing to do.
