When did Torn City start?

I was looking at my account, and can see I'm coming up to 19 years on the game and a lot has changed in the game and I still enjoy it now.

I don't know when the servers came online, and wondered if there are many players from back then and when it actually started.

Are there people from back then? Yes, there are 9 players with 1 or 2 digit ID's who have logged in the past day even.
