Does anyone know if letting a mission time out without accepting gives you more or less of a decrese in your agent standing than declining the mission?

A mission assigned to you doesn't have an expiry date until you accept or decline it.
One player can only have a maximum 3 mission at any one time , unless they are in a company.which allows max 5 mission at any one time.
Once you have been given 3 mission, and you don't accept or decline any one of them - you won't receive any new missions.
Once a mission is declined , then it opens up a spot for a new mission the next day.
If you accept a mission, you have 3 days to complete it.
I don't think agent standing is visible anywhere to players so we won't be able to derermine the effect timing out vs declining has on that value.
As said before, unnaccepted mission cannot time out.
If you accept a mission and run out of time you will fail the mission. As said in the wiki:
"If you decline a contract you will lose less standing in comparison to when you fail a mission."
So if you see a mission you know you can't complete, it is technically better if decline rather than fail, however the loss of an agent stating is so insignificant that it basically makes no difference at all.
However, you should do your missions every day so I recommend accepting every mission you get.
Just remember there are missions that really pay off when you know what to do beforehand, for example: defeat player with only baseball bat, without weapons and armor, defeat a player on a first try. So either read the discription or torntools summary and try to attack enemy before accepting it and adjust their conditions to help you with a mission (for example in a mission where you attack without weapons and armor you attack fully equipped, bring the enemy to low health and then accept the mission and defeat him without equipment).
How do you know which target to attack before accepting the mission?
Some missions have the target in the description before you hit accept, some don't.
