With the new points changes and the apparent promise of the money going elsewhere, as well as the many new features teased and then not spoken about for months, I feel Torn needs road map.

If Points were changed to move money elsewhere, we need to know when that elsewhere will be because forcing people to wait with no word as to how long, is a bit of a dick move.

We've had teases about OC2.0, the new UI Ched was testing, the traits that Ched mentioned in a thread, and the new money sinks that the point change was to prepare for.

But the question is always when.

The only way to really gauge anything is from the ever changing and ever vague developer focus in the patch notes, but nothing ever concrete and no teasers about anything may look like or what we have to expect.

The road map doesn't have to be set in stone, and I fully understand that things are subject to change.

So the proposed road map would be something like:

Crime 12 - July 2024

Mug Nerf #473 - July 2024

Item Market 2.0 - August 2024

Economy Injection - September 2024

Organised Crimes 2.0 - Q3 2024

Crime 13 - October 2024

Chats 3.0 - November 2024

Inventort Rebuild - November 2024

Traits - December 2024

Crime 14 - December 2024

New Company - January 2025

New Mission Giver - Q2 2025

PSF Nerf - Q4 2037

And perhaps release a few teasers such as screenshots or a short announcement of what each feature will entail.

Only rich players who have stacked plenty of points would benefit from an announcement.

Just like in the real-world economy, not everything can be planned in advance. For example, the covid pandemic showed us how unpredictable events can be. Torn is still influenced by real-life events. When Russia attacked Ukraine, some developers lost access to the internet, impacting development timelines.

Players have mentioned their dissatisfaction when features were not delivered on time. That's why specific timelines are not provided.

Chedburn also conducted a poll in the forums, and the 60% community decided that the game should be more challenging.

Just sayin'

Fair point, however I'd still argue saying X is happening because of Y but Z is coming with no time frame is a bad idea

How do balance between providing timelines, which can make people angry if they are not met, and not providing timelines, which also frustrates people? There is a never win-win situation.
