Sigh - so this is my second attempt at this as first one (when submitting) errored saying my post is over 60k characters. I'll make this shorter.

As a preface, all the data has been gathered on 1st June 2024, number of companies and collective income is 100% - the only thing we do not know is profits, so for the calculations we'll pretend as if directors do not pay for ads, products or employees.

We will also average everything - some companies will make more, some less, some are upgraded more some less;

I wanted to see some company data and we will see why PSFs are popular.

We do know why but we have the data and some graphs now.

We'll be looking at most and least desired companies, most and least profitable, best ROI.

Let's start with the least desired company - Theater. There are just 30 of the with the average set up cost of 150m and just over 1m daily income. Theater directors break even in 143 days, followed by Zoo (43) with 900m set up cost and 2.2m daily income with 410 days to break even, and 3rd place is Amusement Park (48), 300m cost and 2.5m daily income and 118 days to break even.

The other side is interesting - Adult novelties (1040) with 5.250m to set up, and 600k ish daily income, break even in just under 9 days, Sweet Shop (942) with 3m set up cost and 130k daily income, break even in 23 days and Candle Shop (647), 1.5m set up cost and about 500k daily, breaking even at just over 3 days!

The best break even companies is Music store with just under 3 days, Candle Shop with a little bit over than 3 days and Lingerie Store with sub 4 days.

TV however, requires 691 days to break even, Oil Rig 421 days and Zoo 410 days.

TV is by FAR the worst company, it does lack the 7* special too and its income is not on par with the rest.

While we're talking about the income, as we know, Firework Stand being the lowest average daily income at just 28k a day, Property Broker with 115k and Flower shop with 117k daily. 

Best average earners are Oil with an average of 75m daily, Mining 58m and Logistics 35m, however collective income is a little bit different: 20.5B for PSF, 18B for Oil and 13B for mining. DAILY.

Comparing top 3 company types by collective income:
PSF 88 days, Oil 421 and Mining 232 days to break even!

PSFs good? HELL YES!! - JUMP ON THE WAGON WHILE YOU CAN!

Interesting. It's also worth considering the value of a company's 10* and 7* perk relative to the daily income and average days to recoup investments. In other words, how much value is there in being the top tier in your industry vs. Good enough to rake a buttload of cash.

Point exchange freed up $3 trillion dollars.

PSF's are printing with minimal work stat requirements $7.482 trillion dollars a year.

Oil Rigs which are printing 6.716 trillion dollars a year - Requiring significantly more work stats.

Meanwhile, companies with similar work stat requirements to an Oil Rig: 
Mining Corp - $4.854 trillion

Logistics - $2.774 trillion

TV Network - $2.263 trillion

Interesting approach to freeing up some money.

You cannot convince me that the better way to free up some money is to either reduce the effective income of PSF's - Or to decrease the income for PSF's staffing with lower stat players - Bringing it more in line with Oil Rigs, Mining Corps, Logistics and TV Networks.

Many aspects were ignored.

Volume is not profit. Most companies have to invest in advertisment. Moneycompanies have to pay additionally high wages (oil, mine, psf,...)

So, don t speak about break even. Many companies would never reach any breakeven without selling trains. E.g. high star Pubs

I could be wrong, but i think Oil Rigs can go with low stat employees too.
Its just that they have higher scaling factor, and higher investment cost so people try to squeeze as much as possible out of single company.
Main advantage of PSF is its earnings/initial cost ratio, not ability to hire noobs IMO

We cannot to generate large sums of money.

You can get away with 1-3 lower stat employees (Mainly limited to the Derrick Hand position, and also depending on how many staffing upgrades you have - For me I can afford 1 lower stat Derrick Hand, and a Motor Hand that's offset by a significantly higher stated player), but overall you need quite significantly higher stats than that of a PSF company.

Correct - as mentioned in the post, we are calculating as a net gain. So break even is even bigger than these initial numbers. The only 100% correct data is collective income and number of companies. Everything else is assumed. it is so much data and a lot of data cannot be queried unless we know peoples APIs ;).

Again, calculated on average "net" income. The data that you see do not include specials, trains, salaries, adverts. 

hell naw, Oil and TV require high stats to get anywhere meanwhile PSFs can be carried with 2 or 3 high stat employees.

Yesterday's income = 1453k

Yesterday's stock sold = ~450k

Net profit = 1m

Ad budget = much higher than that. I don't think there's a single candle that's profitting once you hit 7* unless they're selling trains, and even then its likely break even, not profit

In terms of PSF, TV and Oil rig how much money each of the employees make with specials. Let's start with 10* stars. 0 money means 0 dollars is introduced to the economy of the torn.

Single 10* oil rig introduces 9.45 billion(12 employees + director) a year into economy with out considering 7 star special.

I can update this list with more details once I have travelled back to torn.

Tell me you don't know the optimal set up for Oil rigs, without telling me that. 

The problem with people like you is that you have no clue how to run the companies efficiently. Let me talk with numbers since I have all companies under my arsenal. 

Oil rig most effective set up. 15b investment 50m per day minimum.

PSF most effective set up. 2b investment 15m per day minimum. 

Mining most effective set up. 10-15b investment (Depending on the warehouse you want) 30m per day minimum. 

I haven't run Logistics yet, but I will probably do in the future. 

Oil rigs are by far the best investments at this point of time. Ched has confirmed it, you just don't reach 10 star to maximise your profit. 

There are a lot of Dumb directors out there that have no idea how to run companies and just wing it. The reason PSFs are so popular is because a) they are cheap b) The set up has been leaked c) People have no clue how to run efficiently the big companies. 

Also TVs are by far the best end game company. The energy perk during halloween combined with the mini stats are insanely overpowered. Plus they generate 30m per day easily profit. If you cannot do that, you have no idea how to run them. 

So you're saying you can run Oil, full of noobs and still run 50m per day minimum? 

I dunno, I had a few companies for years, 10* oil and tv among others, and now this one. Minimum stats are 30k-ish to get anywhere near 50m per day. 

7.5T a year, damn my estimates from napkin math were pretty solid.

I suspect the economist no longer plays Torn and now ignores all factors other than levers. Points was easy to pull with all of 10 minutes of effort so why bother looking further basically. Shows 0 understandings of the workings of Torn, or at least no care. Pulling from the bottom instead of top end because it was easiest was an incredibly dumb move.

And yep you nailed it. With low effort, low investment, I don't think it should create that much money. Meanwhile oil and tv and mining should use some love.

I think it's obvious what I said. 

15b set up 50m per day minimum. I never commented on stats needed. Oil rigs have the best profit per stat that has been confirmed by Ched as well. 

You won't use noobs but you can easily use other stats that I won't reveal.
