Here is a question that i would like to pose and get your thoughts on.
How do we solve the inflationary issue and make the game more intresting?
No i dont claim to have a magic bullet solution, but acknowledge that there will need to be a range of things.
Yes i lost a significant portion of money after the points debarcle... oh well... such is life. Could we have a look at one of the fundamental interactions of the game?
It seems to me, that one of the biggest ways of spending money in the game is to have various levels of conflict.
Not just the overhyped Island wars that fizzle out to be fake wall central.
Or the absolutely rediculous RW results where a majority of members dont even make 20 hits (one recently saw 91 member make less than 20 hits, including 43 not making any and 38 less than 10 at a high Diamond level)
Could we?
Revamp the territory walls and the mechanics behind them.
- Have more than two factions that can attack a territory (Even 3 would make it more interesting). This means multiple factions can be vying for the same location.
- Have a limit on how many territories you (a faction) can attack and defend at any give time.
- This way a faction is forced to defend the territories that they value the most. If a faction wants sub factions to fill up the "second" and "third" slot, the other factions are potentially leaving themselves open to be attacked at a different location. This would make alliances much more valuable and the smaller ones are paid better for their services to larger ones for the sacrifices they are being asked to make.
- Territory wall have a minimum number of players on them to be a "viable wall" (say 10 or whatever). This makes the wall a serious consideration for the faction to be a part of, further reducing the amount of fake walls. If a faction falls below this level, they could be eliminated from the wall and a new faction could join it and contest it.
With more factions being able to hit a territory, the fake walls will reduced or atleast made more strategic as it opens up more opportunities for other factions to pick off different territories from other factions. With co-ordinated attacks within an alliance, conflicts could be instigated to take territories, or to provide a distraction from others etc etc. by making the defending factions spend their limited resources of attacking or defending territory ability very selective.
Think of it this way, a faction in the real world is constantly protecting itself from other rival factions (often more than one other). Multiple factions would potentially want the same piece of "turf" for the racket it provides. Why not spice it up and make it possible.
More conflicts/fighting at all levels of the game, creates more interest, allows factions to look for the more active and reliable players and encourage them to build their stats etc for a "purpose" as opposed to sitting there for months, years etc just grinding out stats without a purpose except for saying i have big stats.
Spending energy on revives, xanax, other drugs etc drives more money being spent, reducing the amount of discretionary money players have to be focussed on being redirected to attack and defence of the faction and alliance.
Interesting to see what your thoughts are
