Events in my former faction, Essex Boyz, inspired this idea.
Real-life criminal organizations have shake-ups, coup attempts, and internal hits all the time. Leaders have to be shrewd and think carefully about their leadership, lest they find themselves overthrown.
The mutiny dynamic would work as follows:
Somewhere on the faction screen would be a ‘become mutiny captain’ button. Clicking this would lock the faction roster and designate the player ‘mutiny captain’. Each member of the faction would then vote FOR or AGAINST the mutiny captain. Members would have 24 hours to vote. Anyone abstaining would be considered a vote AGAINST.
If at least 1/3 of faction members vote FOR the mutiny captain (and hence the mutiny), the faction would be temporarily split into to halves - [Faction] MAIN and [Faction] MUTINEERS, each with a proportion of respect equal to their vote percentage. (If 1/3 voted FOR mutiny, the mutineers would get 1/3 of the respect)
A raid would then automatically occur - the MUTINEERS against MAIN. (A coup is a destructive process, and other organizations will respect you less if you can’t keep your own people in line)
If the mutineers win, either by surrender or by reducing the MAIN faction respect to 0, the faction will become property of the MUTINY CAPTAIN.
If the original faction wins, the faction remains property of the LEADER.
The winning leader may then kick or remove whomever they like. Presumably if the leader wins, the mutineer and his cronies would be removed, and vice-versa.
