Pretty simple, make it anonymous who you are fighting until the RW starts.
Edit:
You could go one step further and have it anonymous the entire war, only telling you only level, and "Member 1"

It would certainly make RWs more interesting! R+
Term wars becoming too ubiquitous! Like this idea
R+
So no preparation. No strategie. Just jump into the cold water and try to beat the enemy with whatever you can grab?
This sounds super boring. Also this wouldn't prevent terming but only delay it since then you have to wait for the war to begin to start the talks.
I really see no upside in anonymous RW. Please enlighten me.
Honestly just don't see how this would work. Yes, I get terming ect exists but some people only term when there's a mismatch. We don't term too often but we do term against factions we know we beat, since it benefits the members more to not have to stack for a stomp of a war and we can let the other faction get some score for atleast some drops. With terming neither side has to stack and nobody has to cancel plans ect to be here.
I feel as though having a mix of termed and real wars also increases player retention in real wars. Since it gives them time to breathe/have a real life on weekends rather than having to be here at the start every week.
you'd have to start all the wars at once, or at least in a few "heats" otherwise it'd be dead easy to figure out your opponent- and I don't think the benefits would outweigh the strain on the servers starting wars at the same time.
Keeping it anon after the start wouldn't do much either as roster size, activity and rank would narrow down the candidates fast- there'd be a script showing you the likely opponent out pretty fast.
Absolutely not. No time to prepare and strategize, just show up, kill and win or lose? How do you think weaker factions muster up the strength to beat much stronger factions? Strategy and preparation.
This would be a Stats always wins suggestion and I'm totally not on board.
Thats a no. It takes out alot of factors to consider which already makes wars fun. Eg. Pre war strats, loadout fixation, revive exploits, activity stalks, meme war and how are we gonna do side bets in forums if theyre all anonymous. This will result to too many flaws
Nope
At first I thought this would be good. This isn’t the first time discussing it.
Now I’m not a fan of this idea. Here’s why
1) it doesn’t solve any problems: the research and deal-making will simply happen at the beginning of the war
2) it creates new problems/frustrations: because of random-ish start times, the initial research, etc., will happen for some teams at the beginning of the war, but for others later. For example, Asia could suffer if they are sleeping, or if the war starts when you are walking into a 3 hour meeting
3) it creates the most challenges for young/small teams: large, established factions will quickly create tools and use resources to overcome the challenges, leaving the less established factions with the most frustration. Challenges that affect everyone equally (or closer) are better.
— example: the anonymous “member 1, member 2” idea is quickly defeated with a tool
Summary: RW would be more "tools vs no tools" than it is today
Just my take.
edit: updated for readability
This has got to be the worst idea in the history of worst ideas. Maybe ever.
No it wouldnt, you would turtle at the start of every war, then once it showed, agree terms if you are not a fighting faction and if you are, spend the next couple of hours deciding a plan of action.
So different and interesting /s.
I cant be surprised coming from a faction family with people like Andyman saying he doesnt fight RWs because they are just unfun.
True ranked wars are fun, ie. where several hundred retals occur and players are actually entering fights with fractional life due to limited med/revive cooldown.
... but what we have now where the vast majority of "wars" just entail siting there bashing 200 day old players over and over and letting the war timeout after a certain participation threshold is reached? Bleh.
I agreed until you said "vast majority".
There are a lot of factions out there than want a real scrap. CR, ODB, carbon to name a few.
Edit: also this suggestion thread addresses none of the real RW issues or fixed matchmaking you have mentioned.
My brother in christ why did you write this like a LinkedIn post
"real scrap"
lol
Hey man... you're the one who paraphrased me for something unrelated to the suggestion thread, not me.
My dearest Kwack,
I wrote that like a LinkedIn post because
1) I used to be a wikipedia contributor and have been indoctrinated by their style guides
2) Everything must be "skimmable" because people don't read
3) I need my list to have 3 items or I will die
Conclusion: use this quick and easy method to improve your work space and productivity
