just having an issue where if i edit the balance of any member, the money just vanishes. Gone forever? is there a way that i can take from an account of a member in my faction?

If you edit or zero someone's balance, money stays in vault. It becomes vault balance. Check your vault again.
The balances aren't linked to the actual money in the vault.
If someone's deposited $100m and you edit their balance to $0, there's still $100m in the vault.
If someone has a balance of $0 and you edit their balance to $100m, money doesn't magically appear in the vault.
If money's actually exiting your faction's vault, check you're editing the balance and not just... sending them the money.

yeah it's called mugging them
Did you give someone say $5,000,000 from your own wallet/vault/points/ect and want to deduct that money from them to your own balance? Then you need to adjust both your balance and theirs. Subtract $5,000,000 from them, add $5,000,000 to you.
As Dede and fsh said the money is still there. The money doesn't just vanish.
If you're having issues with adjusting balances, I think you need to go into more detail about what exactly you are trying to do. Typically balance adjustments are connected with an action or an event.
Or are you trying to give the money to someone from their balance? In that case use give to user.
