Is it even possible to progress? You need to use 7 nerves to try for a sing possible character. And most of the it fails. And then when you finally have all of the, you use 5 nerves to loose all the progress.

Even if you try to just look for the characters, after a even 3 levels, trying to get paid, you'll get to zero again.

Is that something that I'm missing? Or am I supposed to just use seven nerves for the characters and never finish them?

That's your answer, the crime is too advanced for you. Try going back to the earlier crimes to build up your Crime experience. Your account is literally just a month old and has little to no Crime exp and you continue losing Crime exp for each critical fail too. There are plethora of guides for each Crime out in the Tutorials and Guides section of the Forums that you can refer.

I just realized it was a bug report. Sorry for that.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of forum posts there that I can't find most of the stuff as the new player.

Unfortunately there isn't a single comprehensive guide to inform you which crime you should do at what level of natural nerve bar, as the Crimes system is fairly new. However, thumb of rule is, if you are failing a crime excessively, then you should move to the crime below that. The crimes are arranged by difficulty based on player's crime exp (so Search for Cash is the easiest crime if you are just starting out etc.)
