A counter against this would be that it would actively encourage troll behaviour. (Not that it stops anyone now mind you).
IMO negative karma seems redundant. Just look for posters with a hundred posts for every one upvote. Nobody liking your opinion is just as telling as anyone hating it.
Iirc this was suggested before. And that was the reason for it not being added.
People would aim to have the most negative karma (like people aiming to have the most Karma)
201 posts with 0 karma says plenty. No need to encourage people to go for shittiest poster "scores"
