I don't know if this is doable, but it could be a thing if some people could be freelancer and get some benefit from it, i'm kinda new to this game but I've heard that it's better to be in a faction because you have perks.

You kind of can in a way by only joining factions during specific times like for warring or for brief added growth or flights, then playing solo otherwise if factions aren't your thing.
