You’ve ranted about supply and demand mechanics, short selling, and item flooding, but you’re missing the critical step: offering actionable solutions. What exactly do you propose? Banning travel? Convincing everyone to stop selling? Creating some utopian Torn cartel where everyone magically agrees to stockpile and upsell?

Torn is built on competition. If people see a way to make quick money, they’ll take it. And while your theory about upselling and controlling supply sounds good on paper, good luck convincing thousands of players with different goals, levels, and playstyles to suddenly act in unison.

You clearly understand economics - great. Use that knowledge to adapt to the market instead of crying about it. Invest wisely and find niches. Complaining that everyone else is ‘doing it wrong’ doesn’t help anyone

Capitalism in Torn is working.  Why else would someone purchase useless beach balls for thousands of dollars? Your commentary suggests artificially limiting the supply of items to boost your profits. Ched makes enough changes to things to keep the Torn economy where he wants it. We really don't need more restrictions to inflate prices. For buyers or traders. Take a look at the new item market. Prices for some items went up dramatically while others remained fairly steady, all while giving another money sink.

How should the people who rely on flying income make income then?

Your suggestion to stop flying will benefit you, but not the ones flying.

Firstly, supply and demand is market economy. Capitalist economy is about separation of workers and proprietors, with production being sold on market.

Secondly, if you think people are selling stuff for overly low price, then you should start "flipping": buy goods being sold for low price, and sell them for high.

If people would just stop flying stuff in, we could all make a bigger profit in the long run, especially if more people used consumables instead of just using them as trading tokens. If we were to focus on the Torn market and buy up the stockpiles of shorted goods, we could then upsell. Supply would stall out to match the flow of demand, and the market value would steadily increase due to the short selling being converted into upselling. We'd all end up much richer for it.

But no one is going to do any of that. No one is going to read this. No one's mind is going to change. And that's the part that truly bothers and frustrates me. We could adopt a better way of doing things that would benefit us, but like in reality, we are far too stubbornly set in our ways to change.

Did you ask ChatGPT for advice? Because your price cartel makes no sense whatsoever. Raising prices means you have to pay more for everything. You don't get to consume more Xanax, as any profit you could get would have to come from you paying more for stuff. In fact, I expect you to be consuming less Xanax, as less Xanax have to be imported to Torn to keep prices high.

I know I'll catch hell for this post, but I really need to vent. I'll remove it soon enough, just hoping maybe someone out there might be willing/able to talk me down.

i read this and i agree. starting right NOW i will stop flying and importing an excessive amount of goods. sorry for the inconvenience

Whoa-whoa there buddy, you’re suddenly making too much sense.

To the OP: Regarding the economy - I’m fairly certain, that Ched isn’t blind and can see the immensely inflated economy right now, so merely complaining that “thingz be bad :(“ yields no new valuable and actionable info to the table.

Bringing people behind the table for a discussion is fine, but acting like a suggestion box isn’t.
