Does the SMG mastery include the bushmaster and the bt? its not listed, but they are smg weapons?

Weapon mastery is specific to each weapon. A diamond bladed knife must be mastered separately from a macana. The merits for piercing weapons still apply to both but they must be mastered (roughly 2k damaging hits) separately.

Yes, the bushmaster and the bt mp9 are both smgs so it will include them. If you are not sure about a weapon, you can look it up on the torn wiki
You're thinking of weapon experience. That's different than weapon mastery. As above mentioned, mastery is gained by spending merits in the respective weapon categories.
The descriptions threw me off as well, for example shotgun mastery says this: "Shotgun weapons include: Jackhammer, Mag 7, and Ithaca 37." I don't think theres any chance it doesn't include benelli's or blunderbusses, etc.
