There's been a lot of talk about ranked warring being mostly termed and that taking away from gameplay.

Bogie most recently offered to start penalizing termed wars, even though that would be a pain to monitor.

I'll offer the simple suggestion: to remove the ability for the war to timeout due to decay.  But rather allow the war to end only when:

  1. As it is today, when a certain lead is reached.
  2. Or instead of the lead amount decaying, set a hard number that must be reached, and the winner is whoever reaches this number first e.g. 40k.

That gives an endpoint to the war for close competitive wars.  But would disallow two factions from just sitting and waiting.  There would no longer be a way to just wait for a war to end.

I think what you meant to write was "remove the score decay mechanic".

That would certainly force factions to spend energy to end a war. It doesn't help with all termed wars, but it is a step in the right direction.

Or make a loser actually lose something - like 0,1% to 0,3% of their faction respect.

For now theres nothing to lose - which means no reason not to join for a ranked warring and try to term war. Now if you lose you only winning things. Make the loser win some caches but lose some respect.

But honestly I'm not sure we want to go this way :d

Termed wars will end when bad matchups stop. I'm new, so I can't speak to years of experience, but I've only seen one war where it was an even matchup. If the matchups were even, then both sides would war and see what happens. If our foe is vastly weaker than us, it makes logical sense for them to cut a deal and help end it swiftly.
