First of all, here is a good guide on everything travel:

In short, you go the the airport and pick a destination:
Flying takes real time, so best to do it while AFK and after you used all your nerve and Energy.
Once landed, buy items like plushies or flowers then fly back ASAP.
Try to be online (set a timer) for your landing because there are muggers waiting on you and you can't med out of hospital abroad.
Once you arrived back to Torn, you can sell your plushies or flowers on the market or to a trader for profit.
Just make sure you buy items, that make a profit as most items WILL not!
