I have got this mission 

 

  •  Search the dump for any previously owned item

  •  Defeat the previous owner of one of the items

 

and this is my search, 09:26:42 - 06/05/25 You used 5 energy searching the dump and found a Card Skimmer dropped by Jimmy

You can re-search the dump till you find a target that you can defeat. That's part of the mission's challenge, it cannot guarantee you an easy target on your first search.
