Can someone explain "Chains" to me like I'm 5 years old? I've read up on it and read forums but I just don't quite understand what they are and how they work. .-.

A chain is when your faction completes attacks with never 5 mins or more between them. If there's 5 minutes or more with no attack the chain dies.

(To start a chain you have to do 10 attacks within the first five minutes though).

During the chain, attacks are worth more respect than usual (and the multiplier increases the longer the chain gets), and there are also respect bonuses for certain round number hits (the 10th hit, 25th hit, 50th hit, 100th hit, 250th hit, etc all the way up to 100,000th hit).

You'll need to unlock progressively bigger chains in your faction respect tree before you can do them. Otherwise they'll auto-end when you hit whatever your max chain number is. The chain perk respect can't be reassigned later, so don't do it lightly.

Stuff like this is really why it's not recommended to run a faction until you're a lot more experienced in the game. Joining someone else's faction and doing chains with them would teach you a lot of tips and tricks for your own faction later.

🎮 CHAIN GAME! 🎮
Let’s pretend you and your friends are superheroes fighting bad guys!

👊 STEP 1: Start Fighting!
You and your friends hit the bad guys 10 times really fast (in 5 minutes).
💥 POW! 💥 BAM! 💥 ZAP!

⏰ STEP 2: Keep Going!
Don’t stop! You have to hit again before 5 minutes pass, or the game ends!
🕔 → ❌ (no waiting too long!)

⭐ STEP 3: Get Bonus Points!
The more you hit, the more points you get!
🎉 Hit #10: YAY!
🎉 Hit #25: DOUBLE YAY!
🎉 Hit #50... #100... #1000... EVEN #100,000! 🤯

Advanced chaining information that you'll learn as you become familiar with chaining:

Keep a list of people you can 1 hit kill for chain saving (chain timer less than 1 minute) and also a list of people who add good respect but you can definitely beat even on Xanax (bc the main goal of a chain is gaining respect). Don't rely on Baldr's list for these targets forever because 10k other people have that same list and the targets are often unavailable (in the hospital). Over time you'll find your own chain targets from missions, feuds, previous wars, etc.

During Ranked Warring your faction may choose to use outside (non enemy) hits to raise the chain count, but all bonuses are to be taken on inside targets (enemy faction members) so they raise your war score. So you'll also want a list for every war of which members you can kill. Not all factions pay for outside chain hits, and not all factions that do pay for them use them to up the chain count. Some factions only pay for outside chain saves (chain timer less than 1 minute) when all enemy targets are in hospital.

In some rare cases your faction may want outside hits on chain bonuses, for example to limit how fast a low termed score is reached and allow participation from more faction members. So be sure to read any war newsletters that are sent to you before war.

Ideally when you are chaining, limit how many targets you try to kill who can give you damage when you attack them, because each time you use medical items you'll add to your medical cooldown. A full Xanax stack (1000 energy) is about 50 hits, and you can't be refilling a full health bar after each target or you'll max out your med cooldown (med cd) and no longer be able to participate in the chain for a while.

If you're in an attack and about to die, ask for help from your faction to kill the opponent. An attack that is finished by you faction mate but started by you counts as an assist and gives 25% more respect. A lost attack gives you 0 respect.
