I'm newer so there may be history here that led to this or perhaps my opinion is minority. Why are the mechanics for territory war so much more fun and engaging for all than ranked war?

Ultimately, they are two different systems, but both are fundamentally broken. Cache farming ruined ranked wars. Alliances ruined territories. Solutions have been debated for years but it's complex. In my opinion, RW's are more fun but only if you get the right matchup, which is rare.
Why do you like territories more? (in it's current state)
I notice on your personal stats, you've done 0 ranked war hits and 0 territory clears. You have managed to join a wall 61 times, spending almost 8 hours total on a wall.
I guess territory wars would be considered more fun to newer players because you can repeatedly join a wall after being knocked off, and still feel like you've helped. Whereas in a ranked war, if you don't actually attack and defeat opponents, it shows in the score.
