Battle Pit – Week 5

Welcome to the fifth week of the GFX Lounge Battle Pit, where graphic artistry, creativity, and bragging rights collide. I'm your MC, MrPringles, and this week we’re showcasing another 3 head-to-head battles between some more incredible GFX artists!

We started with 12 randomly matched into 6 battles. This week you’ll see 3 of these battles.

Each artist had one week to create their best piece of artwork featuring a randomly selected stock image. Any and all creative decisions are in their talented hands after that.

Who wins? You decide.

Vote for 1 winner in each battle by commenting their name below. You can vote on colour, composition, style, technical ability – whatever you think is best, just so long as you share your thoughts.
In 72 hours we’ll count the votes and declare a winner. All commenters who vote & give a reasoning behind their vote each week will be entered into a draw, with up to 10 Xanax up for grabs!

Many of the artists shown are available for commission, should you wish to contact your favourite artist directly.

This Week’s Battles: 

Battle #1: R0FL vs alfuerza - these two founding titans of the GFX Lounge went from friends to lovers... and then to enemies, as they went up head to head in a Gold ranked face-off.

Battle #2: AbandonedDemon vs Effyxo - having both been on hot streaks recently, this battle would help cement the winner as worthy of challenging for the GFX Championship title.

Battle #3: Jetz vs HS97 - the Lounge assistant, Fiona, chose a very unique stock image to be used for this battle. The question was; could either of these admins make anything good from it?

Clean exeuction, nice colours and texture. Feel like Abd has a strong concept but render is a little lost

Can anyone vote or is it just artists who know what they are talking about?

1. R0FL - This was a super close one, i just really like how the vines pop and the depth it has overall but the changes to the render itself from Alfuerza are really great - just overall style preference wise R0FL's swings it for me.

3. Jetz - Really impressed how the render was still the focal point and somehow it actually ended up looking good despite the bad luck on the random render draw! HS97 was very close second for me - peppa just threw me off focus a lil' too much but love the style and what was added to the render to give that graffiti style to it.

1. R0FL. crazy creativity on this one, I'm all for it.
2. AbandonedDemon. while effy's design is subjectively better, more technical, higher quality, etc. the vibe i get from abandoneddemon's design is definitely right up my alley. it's visually more appealing to my personal taste.
3. HS97. love the colors and the graffiti inspiration and "controversial" feel to it.

that being said these are all great and i love the concept of the battles

1. R0FL - I love the aesthetic of it, to me it tells a story.  I want to know how she got there, and even more, how she is going to get out.
2. Effyxo- While I do like the dream or more nightmare like feel of AbandonDemon's design,  personal preference is the clean design of Effy's along with the bursts of color
3. H297- As posted in the tag - think outside of the box - love the creativity

Voted for whatever looks best to me.

1. ROLF. Looks more natural and the color usage is epic.
2. Effyxo. The extra details and colours greatly strengthened the vibe
3. HS97. I love how they didn’t follow the normal trail but rather changed the picture completely :)

R0FL - I don't think either did enough with what they had, I prefer alfuerza's style but I think R0FL was most creative.

Effyxo - Was inittialy going to go with AbandonedDemon but I think that's only because of the solo levelling vibes. I love what Effyxo did with colours, it truly brought this piece to life.

HS97 - Would have loved if one of them went for a robotic style, would have really popped with the render. But in terms of working with what you have, HS97 really used everything they had to stand out.

HS97 i lost the will to vote after I saw the render for third battle, but what you did with it brought me in to vote & comment <3

Idk how I found myself here, but these are freaking awesome. Well done to all the artists!

1. ROLF – I like Alf's style but ROLF's lighting just enhances his art. It was close though. I would like to add that ROFL really leaned into the perverted aspect. I believed that Alf with his style could have done better but It still came out nice. 
2. Effyxo – the mix of colors brought the piece to life. AbandonedDemon did well but it looked too edgy and relied too much on white splotches for the contrast.
3. HS97 – the wild look with the use of texts reminds me of the openings of various shows or lyrical music videos. It really is well done. Jetz was not as pretty to look at.

Overall all 6 images were amazing and definitely showed a skill I am not capable of. I wanted to give all 6 a congratulations and round of applause but of course with all competitions there must be a winner (3 in this case). Here are my picks and reasons:

1- ROFL: While both images showed amazing creativity I really like ROFL. The depth of the background (blurring the back to give it a 3Dish look, the contrast between sun and shadows) really drew me in. 

2- AbandonedDemon: Effyxo's was beautiful with the colors and flow but AbandonedDemon's called to me. It had a feeling to it that kept me coming back.

3- HS97: Both did a good job creating nice images being delt a bad hand but HS97's creativity with it sealed the deal. Like the imagine said "think outside the box" and that's exactly what was done.
