Hia,

wondering which coding reduction times stack. Like the Education, stocks and company perks. It would be over 130% reduction with all those combined but I sincerely doubt that’s the case?

Warriordud [3177526]

i would assume they stack on each other, but multiplicatively, not additively

if you don't understand what that means, here's a quick example: if education reduced it by 50% (idk the actual number) and a company perk also reduced it by 50%, the education would reduce the original 100% time to 50%, and then the company perk would reduce 50% of that, not of the original, making the final number 25% of the original

Case. Explanation
Case 1 (-10%) CMT2580 complete
Case 2 (-30%) CMT2580 + CMT2600 complete
Case 3 (-50%) IIL stock block OR Game Shop/Cyber Cafe/Software Corporation 1* Company Special
Case 4 (-65%) Both Education AND IIL OR Company Special
Case 5 (-82.50%) Both Education AND IIL AND Company Special

Virus Base Case 1 Case 2 Case 3 Case 4 Case 5
Simple Virus 10 days 9 days 7 days 5 days 3.5 days 1.75 days
Polymorphic Virus 25 days 22.5 days 17.5 days 12.5 days 8.75 days 4.38 days
Tunneling Virus 40 days 36 days 28 days 20 days 14 days 7 days
Armored Virus 60 days 54 days 42 days 30 days 21 days 10.5 days
Stealth Virus 100 days 90 days 70 days 50 days 35 days 17.5 days
Firewalk Virus 120 days 108 days 84 days 60 days 42 days 21 days

Everything in Torn is additive rather than multiplicative, it's just easier to keep balance that way if devs want more? Just make the number higher where they want it, no weird interactions.

You just contradicted yourself? That table showing the combinations of things being multiplied AND added..

The only part of that which is additive are the two education courses (because your education personal perks are all additive) so those two combine additively before then being multiplactively combined with the other separate reduction sources.

Beerstein [1322136]

Nope. 10%+20%-30%

Example of additive you add %s then modify so 100 minutes would be 110, then 130

Multiplicative would be 100 minutes +10%->110 +20% ->132 etc.

An easy way to see that it's additive is take base and case 3 (50%) reduction, it's exactly half. If it were multiplicative it'd be reduced by MORE than half.

So stealth 100 days -10% = 90 -20% = 72 - 20% = 57.6 instead of 50 (since it's subtracting rather than adding instead of getting higher faster it'd go lower slower.

But yeah additive it's 50 days, if it were multiplicative it'd be 57.6 days.

IndyCision [2597200]

I said the two education courses were the two which ARE additive.

But those are then applied multiplcatively with the other separate non-education sources.

This is why case 4 in the table (both educations plus one of the two 50% bonuses from stock OR company) is a 65% reduction

1 * 0.7 x 0.5 = 0.35 (35% of the original = 65% reduction)

If you were adding them all together instead of applying them separately it would be an 80% reduction.
