This has probably already been asked, but I couldn't find anything on this.
Does cesium only spawn on the map during the event? Can it be found in the hours after? Does it spawn the following day?

It can be found as a rare spawn as part of the normal overnight map items.
During a DB drop there is an additional chance for it to spawn, separate to the daily spawns.
Its is best that you check the City Map as soon as you can after the DB has detonated.

Some items can only be found at certain times of the year, such as the Meat Hook during the Trick or Treat event or Love Juice during the Valentine's Day event. Cesium-137 will often spawn after detonation of a Dirty Bomb.

If you cannot see any then you might not have passed the awareness Percentage chance.

Yes it does. Items don't despawn from the map
