I just saw the summer 2026 top #100 Hof, Almost all prefer strength over speed, doesn't that means dex would be a better choice than defence? Since no one mains speed.
def or dex?

Pretty much what sleepy said. Run three stats until you hit SE range. Then bring your 4th up to 1b atleast for the merit. Dex is less counterable with the introduction of RW weapons and Armor. Def you have a …
Only when you reach endgame where you have about 1b each stat at least should you care about "main" a stat and build your loadout/playstyle based on that. Early "main" and imbalance will just make you weaker and be an easy target. But if you want to do some research about this topic, here's link to a very good thread talking about it Thread

Also more info to get lost in here
I started off as 3 stat player with def as main stat. At around 100m+ each I switched to dex and havent touched def ever since. Best decision Ive ever made.
Your tiny def has little to no impact against higher stat players and you still take suprisingly a lot of damage from mission targets and RW targets at your stat range. Theres also 0 outplay potential. You cant throw temp that reduces opponents str like dex user throws flash or smoke grenade.
Dex on the other hand, after reaching 100m+ dex I already noticed some dodges against much higher stat players because during RW most people have smoke debuffs on. And now with needles unlocked I can reliably kill 5x or higher stat players because tyro increases your dex by 550% and flash reduces opponents speed to 1/5th.
As for stat spread. You dont NEED all 4 stats. If you are wealthy and aim for SEs, then training 3 stats is perfectly fine. Get your SE stat up and start SEing. If you start SEing, extra 1b in other stat has 0 impact in the long run. 3 merits is also nothing, you dont need every merit in the game to max out your combat related stuff.
If you dont think you can reach like 100b+ NW within reasonable time Id suggest baldrs ratio, take it slow and build your NW until you can SE.
Pretty much what sleepy said. Run three stats until you hit SE range. Then bring your 4th up to 1b atleast for the merit. Dex is less counterable with the introduction of RW weapons and Armor. Def you have a slew of options to counter, will it break through the barrier? That's a case by case basis.
Dex is even better if you can afford EOD. VG cowards screaming rn. Scared to get hit.
Dex > def (im def)
i mean enough str and a sureshot, and dex gets fried in 1 shot.
cripples i agree isnt as useful though cause you have to hit them to apply the debuff.
focus isnt bad, neither is grace but depends on the ration of speed to dex. i have an 84% grace sam and that hits a fair bit
Sureshot peaks at 13%. Have fun with that gamble lol. Not to mention you're looking at $10b + for a good sure shot. Which won't pay off for years. You're listing all things that have a pretty significant negative trade off.
Sure they exist. But the point still stands.
Sureshot only 1 shots if you crit. If your str is below 1T and you hit armor you dont even 1 shot with crit. So you need 1T str and you get 2.5% chance per hit to 1 shot dex user. Against EOD it drops down to 1.6% per hit (more or less depending on bonus %). Meanwhile that same 1T str user could easily clap most def users and there are 20+ high str users in top 100.
