What does this have to do with roleplay?
Strange is that one guy you always see in photos dating back decades. I gave up a long time ago debating if he was immortal or not, as he's always there, just lurking around.
Just thinking, we have 4 threads going. The crew is paused until the auth or comes back, subject of the Unknown has stopped ( I'm not a part of it so I don't know if it's paused or finished, Oppression has just started and the merry band is marching onwards.
Would anyone be interested in another thread perhaps? I'm interested in spitballing ideas, maybe bring a few old ones back.
"As you can see, there are several stations." Michael started, standing up to talk. "At the moment we have two pilots up here, the two Macro pilots in front of us." Both of whom lifted a hand as if to say hello. " I'm here because I like to be up here, no one minds." He trailed off that train of thought, it wasn't important why he was here, after all.
"You'll have noticed there's the station the pilots are at, the captains chair, and various positions around the area. The station I'm sat at is an emergency pilot station, where two pilots can take over, or assist when there is an emergency the main pilots can't handle on their own. Such an occurrence is rare, but that doesn't mean they don't happen. Best to be prepared, eh?" He then started to walk around the other stations, pointing them out as he did so. " Defense positions, one and two, we don't need them often, but be glad they're there. They also control the sheild levels, seeing what the percentages are, and if there's any weaknesses. Again, not needed often, but it's there."
"Next we have the main Comm pair, the two people who talk to the engineers, amongst many others. They're role is to report any problems to everyone who needs to know. In Macro space, they're not needed as pretty much all problems can be solved quickly. Any that aren't are relayed through the Macro pilots headsets, who then take necessary actions."
"Then finally, we have the other comm positions, who are used when the Comm pair are overwhelmed. They delegate areas to these comm channels, so that all the parts of the ship get eh attention they deserve. They funnel the information and give the Captain what he needs to know."
"There, there, there and there" He says, pointing for four different parts of the room. "Are where guards are sometimes stationed. There's usually only need for one or two in the room.
"I won't bore you with all the little details of how each station works the numerous buttons and dials in from of them, but I think you have enough information for now, yes? Just enough on what each station is, what it does and how it helps. " Michael finished, ending up back to his chair, standing behind it.
Michael could sometimes be found in his room whenever not needed on deck. Today, however was different, where he was in his usual spot. He was up on deck, feet up on another chair, a book in hand. He had no need to be here of course, but he liked to be up on deck sometimes. He'd run with crews where something could go wrong at any point, and he'd made a habit of being nearby.
If something did go wrong, there were few he trusted to get it right. Those on the Macro shift were no where near that level. After all, they were on Macro duty. So, as he silently turned the page of his book, picking up a bottle from between his legs, taking a sip, then putting it back. He took a glance out to space, then at the controls. Everything looked clear, didn't mean it was.

If you guys do come back to this. Send me a pm here. I'm on discord. Would be nice to catch up with some old faces.
I remember you, old friend
The time Silver is talking about was closer to 10+ years ago, with most of the old guard popping in every so often. So many good stories we never got to finish many of them.
Oh Shit, Arthur is back and Strange is still glued to the pages. Nice to see the place hasn't changed much.
Well, me and Evil were going to make a thread, but just after we started he's been offline. I'm up for discussing ideas with anyone though.
Kinda hard when Evils been offline for a while.
Right, sound off here if you still visit this place. Strange, I know you're out there watching. Me and Evil are planning on starting this place up again. If anyone wants to be part of the resurrection of the Role Playing Section of Torn, post here.

Jasper waited for must've been several hours before everyone had arrived. When 'Knight' came in 20 minutes early, Jasper went over to talk to her, asking how she had been, how close the order had come to her, and what mischievousness she had been up to. She had had a few close calls, much closer than him, but for now she was safe, and they hadn't caught her.
The four horsemen had a similar story. They'd been caught, their identities almost revealed, but they had been able to not only kill the order members that had captured them, but had erased all physical knowledge of the attempt. Viking and Ragnarok had lasted clean, just like Jasper, but had a feeling that they could be caught soon. They had plans made ready for just after the meeting. The three groups were the lucky ones.
The Angels had lost three members, and were down to just Gabriel and Michael. The Greek gods were also down to two, Posiedon and Athena, but had lost 12 other members. The Warriors, The Seasons and The Sports had been wiped out completely. 36 members total, lost to the order. 36 names added to the list.
When the meeting started, each of the five members of the hand were there, but only 3 of their bodyguards. Not even they had escaped the culling of their Alliance. Jasper smiled wryly under his mask. So much lost, and for what. He look at Knight, who was looking back at him. Her eyes told him everything he needed to know. She felt the loss as hard as he did, and didn't want to be alone tonight. If she lost him, or he lost her, it would all fall to the survivor. Neither could take that.
One of the member of the Hand stood, his black mask a blank oval with two eye slits. "MEMBERS OF THE ALLIANCE, START YOUR NAME AND GROUP." First went the Greek Gods, then the Horsemen, the Norsemen, the Angels, then Jasper and Knight as the Royals, and continued for another 17 other groups. Most were down to 1-3 members, and as more and more groups missed their call, more and more did the mood of the room darken.
"ALLIANCE MEMBERS, WELCOME TO THIS MEETING."
Bill decided to wait a bit longer, getting the men to to hide, and hiding himself. He looked around for a suitable tree to climb, before hopping from one to another. He was quite happy with his spot. Unless you looked directly at his tree from within 25 feet, you wouldn't even know he was there. Even then, you might even think he's just a shadow of the tree. Bill was good at hiding, scarily so.
The three of them would wait until the other hunting party returned, they'd count how many, then decide from there what to do. As a precaution, Bill started arming some of the darts Rin had given him with the poison. They might be able to get the noble tonight.
Bill and the lads travelled north. They stayed in the woods, avoiding as many people as possible, and stayed as quiet as they could while travelling fast. Bill had already spent enough time, no need to spend any more than they should. As they came close to the Nobles camp, being distinct due to the loud noise, they men slowed down, and began to sneak.
They would not only count how many men there were, but where the Noble they were looking was, and where he was going. They kept an eye out for anyone else, and did a big lap of the camp to count everyone and find out as much as they could about the camp. They saw much, and agreed that the camp would likely have to be looted.
"You too good sir. Perhaps we'll see each other again." Bill replied, walking off towards town. He walked for about fifteen seconds, turning around and looking to see if the old man had gone inside his house. Once he had, Bill started to walk back to the forest, keeping an eye out to ensure he wasn't noticed, especially by the old man. Once he got to the forest, he started to jog. He'd continue until he got back to his companions, and would fill them in on what he'd learnt.
They'd head north, and once they heard the loud nobles, they'd slow down and watch. They were only there to spy after all.
"Nice little town you've got. Looks like you guys have mostly everything you need." There was a very slight hint of sadness to Bills face after he finished. If one was intuitive enough, they'd realise Bill was slightly envious of the simplicity of the town. Somewhere to retire one day perhaps.
He blinked slowly. Soon he'd leave his companion, go back through the forest path to his colleagues and go north. Now though, they had a better idea which group would be the one they would be after.
Bill scratched his cheek almost absentmindly. "So this welp is trying to hunt the game, and messing up badly? How's that affecting business? Does the game just run south or random directions?" He made a mental note to avoid as many people as possible in this town. He had stayed with this man for a while, and should get going soon.
"Which I'm guess means your staying well away from the nobles on this island then? Maybe I'd do well to avoid them if they've been here a while. What area would you say is best to avoid?" He asked the old man, smiling inside.
"We moored on the west, but it is likely they'll move south. Usually one man is sent to see where the nearest town is, while the ship moves south. Most islands have a town either on the west side of the south side. This way, we find it quickly." Bill paused for a moment, taking a small breath, deciding what to say before saying it.
"We have been asked to go south, to meet a King for some task. I know not what he wants, only the captain does, but when you here a King is looking for sea faring adventurers, you go find out what he wants. Our captain knows and has deemed it worthy of us. We just need more supplies for the trip. Who knows, we might come back here again one day. " He finished with a smile.
Bill chuckled. "I believe in my own gods, the last two of their kind after many were killed. One of them is similar to your god Poseidon, but with a few differences. Each person believes in who they feel can light their path. Mine have not led me astray so far, and I hope that stays the same."
Bill thought over his Gods, Ashiron the wanderer and Liliune the warrirors light. One controlled the waters, the other the moon. They were not only the last of his pantheon of gods, but the last partners. Ashiron gave protection to those on a quest, especially over the sea. Liliune gave protection during battle and at night. The moonlight was her light. Together, they were strong, and together they'd survived.

"Sometimes the hardest work is the long hours waiting around. My grandad was a trapper back in the day, and he'd take me along now and again to learn patience. Was a good way to teach." Bill replied, keeping up with the old man and talking to him as they walked. His eyes darted around whenever the man wasn't looking, making a note of all the paths and trails off of this main path.
"Sure, let's walk to town, I got time." He put a hand behind his back, as if he was scratching it through the leather, but instead he made a couple hand signals to the others. They were to go the other way, find the camp and then come back here. From there he could decide what to do.
Bill smiled at the man. " I bet with your daughter marrying this man, it means more money you can save up for yourself afterwards. Maybe even take a longer break from work and just enjoy life. A small island like this must be a nice quiet place to live."
