For a long time I've wondered how people get so rich, so as to buy items like handbags, GAKs, staff collectibles, unique properties or high end companies like TV and oil rigs.
Ever since I returned to Torn on September 2019 I set some personal goals, the last of which was accomplished today.
Most of you don't know me, but the ones who do probably recognize me from the high stakes poker tables. Starting off with a ~10B semi-liquid capital some months ago, I climbed my way to 60B. My poker 2.0 stats show a staggering 53B+ profit.
Day after day I saw my networth grow. Some days I had made so much that I didn't mind burning huge sums of money at the poker table. I believe one highlight of this was a 5-bet preflop all in for 2B with J5 offsuit (yea the other guy had AA, what did I even expect).
At some point I realized that I had finally found my unique way of becoming part of Torn's richest. Some trade, some buy and sell stocks, I would gamble in poker. So, I set my final goal, after which I would force myself to stop (or at least secure my profits and start low again). And what better goal than that, than buying a Gold Plated AK-47.
After having raised 25B in cash -the rest of my poker profits were used for merit hunting, buying most stock BBs, PIs, some pretty collectibles and donating to friends- I attempted finding a budget GAK for sale. Not much to my surprise, with only 134 in circulation, I could not find someone selling for 22-23B. And then it dawned on me. I should not buy someone else's GAK. I should buy my own GAK. What sort of gambling man doesn't want throw 25B into the unknown stats of a premium weapon?
So I closed my Cayman island's account (which btw yielded a monthly interest profit higher than what I get from TC bank), I purchased a Business class ticket and traveled 1st class to Dubai. The legendary Gold Plated AK-47 was there waiting for me.This brought me back memories from when I was flower running back in 2010-2013. I always saw these premium items (gold laptop, platinum PDA, etc.) sitting there collecting dust, wondering if anyone would ever buy them (keep in mind back then there were <10 GAKs in existence). Their price tag would be out of my league for many more years to come.
I clicked the "buy" button and quickly confirmed my decision to purchase the weapon (I really did not want to get mugged with 25B on hand, even though I had mug protection). In an instant the Gold AK-47 disappeared from the screen, as only 1 was in stock. I took the return flight, eager to find out the stats of my new purchase. Everyone had told me that I'd get a mediocre weapon with 20% demoralize. And I did, truth be told. But still, I had to do it. I wanted to, because it gave me the thrill of a poker hand where you are an underdog struggling to hit that one outer. You most likely won't. But now I can be part of Torn's history, as my purchase will be depicted in the circulation graph forever. And I will always remember this day.

I am a serious player who respects both you and poker etiquette. In order to avoid situations where one wins a huge pot and runs away, the matches will have a pre-defined time (e.g. 30min, 60min, etc.), unless someone loses their whole stack. Joining back in after having lost your whole starting stack (i.e. a rematch) should be agreed upon by both players.
All i wanted in this game was to be rich. My battle stats could never catch up to the top players anyway, since i was inactive for too long.
Now that i actually achieved that goal (40B+), i feel like i have no purpose. I can become richer, but still, i can never surpass the richest around here (due to the way all loopholes for multiplying huge sums of money have been shut down over the years).
So, sure, i can keep playing poker and making some B per week, but is there a point to that?
I practically own all the stock BBs and i also try to make some extra cash from "buy low sell high". Bank is maxed obviously. I have started buying pretty items for no reason (well the collector's honor is one reason :P), but at the same time i am so far away from being able to buy the rarest items or unique properties. Over the past few days I have also donated money to friends (please i swear to god if you mail me asking for money i'll get really angry).
Should i start drinking premium alcohol and use FHCs/cans? Why though? I am so far away from doing PA's or getting billions of battle stats it seems almost pointless.
I don't have the time to run a company; i've tried with AN's and later logistics. Leading a faction is also not my cup of tea.
I am having a torn existential crisis. It may seem like "oh wow the billionaire dude is asking what to do with his huge sums of money", but i actually need some sane advice and/or guidance.
