You would think that in the many years this game has been alive the developers would at least optimize some things. Understandably I get that PHP is not the greatest of languages for back end dev and that the team is more or less stuck with it unless there was a full blown rewrite. But looking at a simple lighthouse inspection with Chrome there's a lot that could be done to improve performance, not to mention some things that just should not be.

- Excessive DOM Size: 1713 Elements, this is crazy!
- 129 Resources served without an efficient cache policy
- Maximum critical path latency: 4,870 ms (No wonder its slow to load on mobile)
- 145 Requests to download 150kb of data? Couldn't some of those requests be consolidated?

- jQuery 1.8.2 released in 2012! Has 3 Vulnerabilities - jQueryUI 1.9.1 same as above - LoDash 4.11.1 3 Vulnerabilities - Handlebars 1.0.0 SERIOUSLY! Latest is 4.5.1 this is crazy!
As a consistent donator I have to wonder why is the site stuck in web technologies from almost a decade ago. Why do we have to wait up to 5 seconds for the session to be handled correctly. Why does having my stepson who lives in my house scare me that the staff will think my account is a multi account.
Truth is that this game is broken, casino is broken, progression is broken, staff treat the players as more of a nuisance than an essential part , the only truly redeeming factor is the community.
This game could be so much more than it is and has become.
I know the odds have always been in favor of the house. But at least it use to be fun with little bits of winning here and there just to give you a rush, now no matter the game, its constant lose lose lose.
As a normal routine in my daily life in Torn I like to play slots here and there. Usually I lose a little, win a little, or it evens out. But recently I've been testing the slots on all the various amount bets and it seems like there is either a bug or the odds have been changed drastically in favor of the house. I mean 3 days straight of losing minus 2 pinatas and 1 flock o ducks.
So I've tested this in chrome, firefox, opera and brave. It appear that only on brave when looking at your inventory items, when clicking on certain items the item description box flickers and closes back making the user unable to see certain item descriptions.

Same here, it triggered when I went to the race track and clicked buy & fit on the super gas upgrade, now every area I go to appears to be running slow and (Database error - please contact staff or file a bug report Mysql error 0) is showing up
Running Brave(Chrome) latest version on Ubuntu 19.10
So I recently came in to some money from a lucky shot in the casino a little bit over 441 million. My vault capacity was 500 million and I had 89 million already stored. I initially was only going to put in 400 million so I wouldn't go over my limit but I accidentally fat fingered an extra 0 which automatically changed 400 million into all the money I had on me 441 million and I hit enter. The balance of my vault was 500 after that, and my cash on hand was zero resulting in a loss of 30 million!
Would have been nice to see a warning pop up stating that I was going over my storage capacity or even better only depositing up to the max and leaving remainder in my cash on hand.
Oh and to clarify about the front end libraries, the only vulnerabilities which may or may not be relevant were that they had CVE's out for cross site scripting which I'm assuming is mitigated somehow via other means anyway.
Just wanted to clarify some things about this thread. I in no way want to slam Ched and the other devs in any way. I'm a die hard Torn fan and will be for as long as this world is alive. I may have come off in a harsh tone, and I apologize for that. I too understand the squeeze of development when you have to scale and support legacy things that take moving mountains to change. I guess at the end of the day I just wanted to inspire for the future of Torn. Maybe someday we could all work towards a fully new and modern architecture with robust native mobile apps.
It must be incredibly difficult to keep the game balanced, secure, and fun for all at the same time. At my shop we also support a lot of legacy projects (Drupal 7 to 8 migration ahhhh!!!) and I want to reiterate that I am thankful that this game exists. I'm hopeful for a Torn future that stretches into the next 30 years.

It's been dodgy like that for years. It would be nice if the odds of roulette were actually based on the physic of the wheel instead of this mysterious rigged logic that makes you lose because you've had a few nice spins. Casino as a whole is broken in my opinion what use to feel like a fun chance like experience feels nerfed into oblivion to balance the economy. What a shame.
