In this game, you are placed in a hunger games arena, where you have to survive as long as possible and outlast your competition. You win once you are the last one standing.
Actions You can perform actions by putting them in bold. You are free to roleplay as much or as little as you wish. If you decide to roleplay, character speech should be in "quotations", and character actions should be initalics.
Inventory
Any items you gather go into your inventory. You have 3 inventory slots, and you can gain additional inventory slots by purchasing a bag item. You can only have 1 type of bag. Many items can be used to perform a certain action. If you have more than one of the same item, you can only use one of them per day (e.g. if you have two knives, you can only use one of them).
Hunger Hunger is basically your health in this game. When your hunger reaches 0, you will die after 24 hours. To increase your hunger, you can eat food items. You can eat/drink up to 3 times per day, and hunger automatically decreases by 12 every day. If the game is taking too long, I'll increase the daily hunger loss.
Water Some areas have water you can drink. You can drink the water directly out of the water source, or store it in a canteen and drink it later. All water on the map is "dirty water", but you can purify the water in your canteen using a water filter. You can take as much water as you want from water sources, but you can still eat/drink only 3 times per day.
Item
Use/Ability
Dirty Water
Drink for 2 hunger, 10% chance of getting poisoned
Clean Water
Drink for 2 hunger
Time and Days I'll run the game on a similar schedule as the main game. New days will occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at approximately 7 am TC time. I'll also update the game at about that time every day, even if no day change is taking place.
Weather and Protection At the start of each day, there will be a randomly determined weather event. Your character will lose hunger from being exposed to the elements. However, certain items grant protection, which reduces damage from weather events. The daily weather effects are global.
Character Classes and Shop When you sign up for the game, you choose your character class. You will not be able to change your class once the game starts. You will then have 100 coins to spend in the shop on items to help you survive. Choose wisely, the shop will only be available before the game starts. Once you are in the Hunger Games Arena, there is no shop or coins.
Map and Travelling The map is a 5x5 grid containing 25 regions. Travelling to an adjacent region costs 5 hunger. You can move in any direction, including diagonal. You need to be in the same region as other players to be able to attack them or trade.
Scavenging and Foraging Most regions will allow you to do one of these two actions. When you decide to scavenge, you will search the region for useful items and tools that have been hidden in the arena. As items are found, the probability of finding items in that region decreases. When you forage, you search the region for berries, herbs, and wood. However, you will not be able to identify the berries and herbs unless you are a certain class or have a certain item. They will enter your inventory as unidentified berries and herbs. You can scavenge or forage once per day.
Combat and Looting You can attack players in the same region as you. Once their hunger has reached 0, they will die after 24 hours. When you kill someone, you get to loot one item of your choice from their corpse. There are also large animals roaming the map that will yield a large amount of meat and skin when killed.
Crafting Some items can be crafted anywhere. These are listed under "basic crafting". Other items require a workshop to craft. Workshops must be found within the arena.
Shelters Shelters give you protection from the elements, as well as extra item slots. You can build shelters anywhere on the map. However, shelters can only be used if you are in the same region as the shelter. If you come across a shelter whose owner is not in the region, you can claim the shelter for yourself, or take the items stored in the shelter.
Fishing and Hunting Certain items allow you to fish or hunt. The results of these actions depend on the region you are in. Different regions have different fish and animals. When you catch a fish, you will be able to eat it later to restore hunger. When you successfully hunt, you will automatically obtain both meat and skin from the animal.
Description This is a version of the board game Cash and Guns. I've never actually played that game, but it looks fun, so I decided to run it here and see what happens. Hopefully, this won't be too confusing, but ask if you have questions.
Format and Prizes This game is free to enter, and I'm looking for 8 players. I will contribute $16 M into the main pot. The game will consist of 8 rounds. During each round, a random amount between $500,000 and $1,500,000 will be taken from the main pot and placed in the round's pot. After all 8 rounds, all living players will win whatever they earned during the 8 rounds. The living player with the most money will win whatever is left in the main pot.
All decisions are made through PM, and all results are posted in the thread.
Phase 1 - Gun Loading Every round consists of 2 phases. During the first phase, everyone decides who to point their gun at, and whether to load a bullet into their gun. Everyone has 3 bullets to use during the entire game. After players have sent in their decisions, I'll reveal who everyone pointed their guns at, but not what is loaded into those guns.
Phase 2 - Back Down During the second phase, players can decide to back down. If you don't want to back down, you don't have to send me a PM.
After players have decided whether or not to back down, guns are fired. If you loaded a bullet into your gun, you will shoot the player you were aiming at, and they will take a wound. If you didn't load a bullet into your gun, nothing happens. Players who backed down will not shoot, and players pointing guns at those players will not shoot. In this case, they still use up a bullet if they loaded one into their gun, but the other players won't know if they did or not. After guns are fired, all players still standing (haven't backed down and haven't been shot) split the round's pot equally, and another round begins. If nobody is still standing, then nobody gets the money (though this really shouldn't happen).
Wounds and Death If you get shot, you take a wound. If you get a third wound, you are dead. You are eliminated from the game, and lose all the money you accumulated in previous rounds.
Example Round Phase 1: Player A points gun at Player B Player B points gun at Player A Player C points gun at Player D Player D points gun at Player C Player E points gun at Player D
Phase 2: Player D backs down
Results: Player A and B both loaded bullets, so both are shot. Player D backed down, so doesn't get to fire his gun. Players C and E were aiming at player D, so they don't fire their gun. If players C, D, and E loaded bullets, they will still have used up their bullet, but nobody else will know whether or not they used up a bullet since they never pulled the trigger.
Players C and E split the round's pot, since they were the only players still standing.
1. I fully approve of the special race. It's probably a good idea to announce track/class in advance, in case anyone wants to enlist/upgrade a new car for the race.
2. I don't really like stock races. Stock races can take a long time (even 50 laps will take forever on some of the courses), and I'm limited in what cars I can use, since I can't use a stock Honda Civic if I have an upgraded one.
However, I'm not completely opposed to the idea, I recommend you try it out and see how much participation you get before deciding whether to keep it or not. Like you said, it might make our racing series more accessible to newer racers.
