Imagine you stumble across a gold mine. You’ve done all the work to set it up, all the work to make it worth while, and then you just… leave it?
Such is the story of Cerberus (the faction). A couple of weeks ago, they smashed out a 10k chain, landing the bonus on one Agent Smith and destroying his faction The Happy Place
The event made the ticker, and I had seen that poor Smith had been mugged. Congrats to the guys - 10k chain off season and some cash to go with it is an achievement!
I kept a watch on Smith, on the off chance he had cash and there would be an opportunity to hit, as I was playing the role of a no skill mugger. But there wasn’t another mug. Not for a few hours at least. Given the time, in case there was mug protection, I decided to shoot my shot:
19:26:28 - 06/07/26 You used 25 energy anonymously attacking -Agent-Smith- and mugged them for $640,642,845 (chain #1) [view]
Stomach nearly dropped out of me. How had they left this target, if he had that much on him? Surely they’d be on him, even with the mug protection?? But then I realised what probably happened. Mugging on the 10k hit doesn’t register his faction destroyed first. Order of events would have been mug - faction destroyed - cash in wallet. They had effectively left a 4-6b cash mine up for grabs, after doing the work to coordinate the hit.
Cue two weeks of intense mining and mugging. Sweating that this guy would be found. That Cerberus might remember to try again. But despite a dicey population day weekend (Smith is a levelling target; can’t catch a break) I am proud to walk away with nearly 4.7b in ill gotten gains. His pocket left completely untouched. Well except for me..
Posting this now as a lesson and a fun story (nothing to do with the fact that a few mission people have found him now and that I’m not interested in racing for mugs on him 👀). I estimate he may have 100-200m left on him, in case anyone in Cerberus (or any reader) wants to recoup some cash.
If you're looking for a faction which loves to war and loves to get paid, then look no further!
We offer competitive pay on all wars and rewards for hard working chainers, with the potential to earn hundreds of millions per war!
RR is a faction with committed and hard working leadership, looking for rising players like yourself!
We have an active discord with regular giveaways and our leadership team is available round the clock for any questions you may have. We have a wealth of experience and resources to make you a better player!
I can see voice recorder being an enhancer for impersonating. Using it to record jargon/tone of actual employees and using that to practise your own approach etc
Also seeing the same as above, but piggybacking on that, I think this step is missing its adhesive plastic? Other lamentation jobs use it, but doesn’t seem to be present here.
Also the text for the gluing step of the Medical License references to waiting an hour to letting it dry, but there is no cooldown, like the gluing steps in Passport. Appreciate though that it might not need it, as I think there is another job which uses glue with no cooldown (think it’s diploma, off the top of my head)
Plus the cutting step references use of a scalpel, but the item used is scissors
Yeah this is a consistent thing with inactive people. Some stats like defends update, but networth needs you to log in for it to reflect on your stats. Suppose that’s half the fun of finding targets like this 😅

I've circled everytime I felt like quitting. But what, you going to let the game win? Suck it up, come back stronger.
Playing with people makes it better, and a casino ban is required for some. This is the first time I've made my current nw without gambling. Feels pretty good.
RWs and some companies I invested into while flush with cash have helped with getting cash back each time
Just want to buttress this - I played a mug playstyle over June this year and it was easily the most I had looked at Torn in a month, ever. It is long, thankless work. Not only are you hoping that you mug enough to make selling the item you bought worth it, you're competing with every other mugger watching the same targets. Some days, you don't really get anything.
You didn't have to write any of this to begin with. No one forced you to write it. You could have just kept scrolling and not write it at all. Maybe next time scroll on by instead of stopping to write then whine about what you write that you didn't have to write in the first place.
Nothing nuanced about your takes or your theories. If an item takes longer to sell in the market than other items, you should still be self hosp’d when trying to sell it. When you’re tired of trying to sell it, med out and take it off the market. If you don’t want to wait, sell it to a trader. You’ll get the same amount and not get mugged. Then I won’t have to read this trash and everybody wins.
