Snow was falling softly on the ground as the crowd began gathering began around the locked gates that leads to Christmas Town. Little is known as to what happens after the army drives out the stragglers, after Santa Clause has gone to ho-ho with a ho and drop off his "gifts". There is a sudden flurry of activity, and several fresh faced immigrants stumble out of the crowd, their faces as white as the snow around them. As they stagger away to the fleet of private ambulances that circle the crowd like muggers in the Caymans, crimson goblets fall off the bloodied blade buried deep within a young man, and fall heavily onto the snowy streets, making the scene more festive and colourful.
The gates creak, and a wizened old man appears on the other side, trailing behind him a considerable chain which appears to be linked to a black van bedecked in the finest tinsel and garlands of holly. A murmur ripples through the crowd, as residents share rumours of what they have heard over Torns greatly respected, and feared, Gary. Some say he's contracted every STD known to man, and that he has inflatable breasts to get him out of speeding tickets. All we know is he’s called Gary! The crowd watch with baited breath, then gasping ensues as the crowd realise that the electronic sign marking the opening time flickered, adding an extra 2 weeks to the timer. After many days of Gary fumbling with the lock, the gates begin to swing open, screaming in protest, a sound only matched by the crowd, as those who were napping in the crowd become trampled as the horde envelope the gateway to Christmas Town.
As the horde surges through the gate, a wiry hand reaches out towards Gary, and his tantalising pocket with a set of keys nestled inside. It is rumoured these keys can unlock the jail, and Ched's basement, among other delights. However, the rumours around the keys will continue to develop, as Gary flicks around with the speed of Gazelle, and grabs the would be richest resident of Torn. One fantastic sleight of hand later, and handcuffs linked to the chain were dragging the poor sod behind the van, scraping his body towards the federal prison. You move your eyes forward, towards the wooden chalets selling Bratwurst and daggers, and listen to the christmas music floating through the air, and the chatter of machine gun fire echoing from the forest. You then lift your eyes to the banner hoisted high above, and begin reading fast, as an enterprising resident is also working at on one end with a pair of bolt cutters
