So I just got this mission that goes by the name of "Marriage counseling" (because screw proper capitalization), and it got really messed up, since one of the members of this couple no longer exists, culminating in the superior-quality description that is this:

" is giving me pain where a guy my age should not be getting pain. owes me a hundred big and thinks it's no big deal. I go to talk to about it, real nice because that's who I am, and laughs in my face! I had some guys put hits on , but even when they put in the hospital, don't learn nothing. just lies there eating grapes and demanding sponge baths.

I dont want much from life ya know? Money, respect, and a third thing I cant remember right now. But this penny-punching piece of work is stopping me getting both those things, so I want you to change tune to a...a...a really sad tune. How? We go after the third thing everyone wants what I just remembered...sex. Dont worry, you aint gotta seduce , but you are gonna put a hit on other half, significant other, piece of ass. Whatever you wanna call it.

And the spring in the tail? Youre gonna make out that [some guy] ordered the hit all along. Pretty sneaky right? He aint gonna have time to bother me when 's got marriage counselling to go to. And since other half agreed to marry this bozo for better or worse, I say he's fair game."

I'm gonna presume that this is Duke hallucinating a wife of [some guy] that doesn't actually exist, and he wants me to beat up the husband of this imaginary wife, presumably because he stole Duke's only prescription of Thorazine. Is that correct?

Well, to be honest, whenever somebody joins the military for long enough, they literally become invulnerable.

Just like in real life.

Currently, I am taking a Business course in Corporate Finance, which will be completed in a little over 3 days. However, I also realized that the General Studies courses will be much more beneficial for my current standing when compared to the Business courses. Should I leave the course immediately and then enroll in the Introduction to General Studies course, keep going with Corporate Finance and enroll in GS when the current course is done, or should I take a different choice?

I mean, the reason why you aren't dealing much damage to them is probably due to the fact that you're too busy holding your nose in an attempt to prevent your sinuses from melting, due to the nauseating stench they emit, and thus unable to get a firm grip on your weapon.

As Megadeth said already, the main thing that you should do is to have the "secret word" anywhere in the message in order to pass the mission, likely to prevent players from just sending a blank message and passing anyways. As for me, my word was "inconsolable".

Yep, the photos of Duke are indeed stock images. I noticed that the most commonly-used photo is from this image:

Of course, this isn't the only image used, but it gives enough evidence to prove that stock images were used.

I mean, this is a sort-of-T-rated game we're looking at here, and it's a suggestion involving something that isn't that, so what could possibly go wrong?

A funny thing was that I ended up with this same problem just today. I even talked about it on the Global Chat and thought it was hacking because of how ridiculous it looked. And then, two things happened:

1. I found out that it was likely due to the fact that he might have done exactly as the previous posters said, and
2. That I ended up having people think I was one of the worst players on Torn.

Not that I'm offended, of course, since this was a player that likely had over 1M Defense that I fought...

Well, it makes sense. After all, if a molotov cocktail can do the type of fire damage you would expect from any game including this one, then it should also be the same for a flamethrower in said game.

Hello there, I am a Torn City user who is rather forgetful and also does not have the time to get involved in a roleplay. I would like to give some ideas for roleplays in which one of you could create yourself, but first I have some questions:

1.) On the terms of offensive themes, does this also count towards otherwise PG-13 topics that may be offensive during this time?
2.) Though I didn't read the OP's message thoroughly, I didn't see anything involving foul language. You said that roleplays must follow a PG-13 restriction, so what exactly are the limitations that one must follow in terms of swearing?
3.) What should somebody do if they want a roleplay of their imagination on this forum, but they don't even have the time to make the thread themselves?

Anyways, I've got several ideas for a roleplay that I wouldn't have enough commitment to make myself. You can call me out on flaws with the concepts and what I can do to fix them. These ideas are...

1.) The Interstate involves a group of people who must drive out of the U.S. on, of course, an interstate to escape both a large enemy army and a severe snowstorm engulfing the nation, to get to a working airport across the country.
2.) In The Quarantine, the military has hired a group of 'quarantine supervisors' to have them try to eradicate a dangerous infection in a major New England city, having said supervisors take control of a certain district. This roleplay is intended to be strategy-based, with several interesting features such as Panic.
3.) The Outpost takes place in a military outpost in the middle of nowhere. The roleplayers will take control of some soldiers whose task is to guard the outpost. Despite the setting, it can have the potential to either be lighthearted or serious.

So anyways, I hope you guys have fun with either creating or tearing apart these concepts. Cheers.

Chef, you have made me a poorly-made breakfast that I will name "You Have No Idea How The Torn Economy Works", or for convenience, "YHNIHTTEW". I'll tell you why, similar to how Bogie said why:

It seems that you do not understand that since Torn City is only a game in a fictional setting, then its economy is obviously going to be different from the real world's economy. Certain aspects of our civilization's economical concepts do not exist elsewhere (such as the topic of 'inflation'), and nice versa. Another thing about how unique a user-driven marketplace is that all of the prices associated with that aspect of the game rely entirely on supply and demand, as well as the fact that supply and demand in Torn City is much more drastic and important than it is in Wall Street.

To give an idea on what I mean, I'm going to explain, right now, about how an item's value, rarity, and usefulness can drastically change the price of an item in the market. An example on the difference between Torn's item market and Torn's official shops in value can be seen with the Slim Crowbar. Due to its status as a Crime Enhancer (Captain Obvious reports that the Slim Crowbar helps in the Larceny crime), the Slim Crowbar is extremely valuable in the item market, as it has the potential to help a man become a multimillionaire. However, if you actually sold it in a run-of-the-mill 'City Shop' (In this case, Bits N' Bob's), then you would only get about $300 in return.

I could agree that there should be an option to insert a YouTube video. Despite of the fact that you can already be able to put a YouTube video onto a thread, this suggestion would make the process of doing so an easier, quicker task.

My opinion on the controversial topic of microtransactions is the same as those who have mixed feelings about the topic.

I believe that it is perfectly fine if a video game developer adds microtransactions if they were the type which only give an advantage for a limited time (or if the reward for paying involves an item that is better than other items of its level, but is eventually beaten by items of higher levels, even items that free players can acquire at any time). It is just that I do not recommend adding microtransactions to your game, especially if you don't want your fans to turn on you along with the rest of the internet. Truthfully, I believe that the best kind of 'microtransactions' are donations. I believe that donations are the best way to allow you and/or your company (depending on whether or not it is an indie title) some extra revenue if you make your game accessible for free, because (usually) the only perk that a player will get if they donate to you is the fact that your came can still at least keep on running.

The Abridged Version (aka TL;DR version): Microtransactions can be used as a way to receive extra venue, but you must be aware that your fans can and will get pissed if said microtransactions are 'game-breakers' that can be used to always be one step ahead from 'free players' of the same level, as well as the fact that microtransactions in general are very controversial and can put a dent in your reputation with the community that might never be fixed. However, I would recommend the use of 'donations' as an alternative method.

I once heard from a gaming magazine (yes, they still exist) that Gabe Newell, in fact, has absolutely no idea where he is going with Half-Life 3. My guesses are likely that the question on whether or not Half Life 3 will be, as the associated 'meme' would refer to as 'confirmed', would be a question that would eventually fade away as time goes on.

The player above me is actually allergic to sweets, and their paranoia causes them to always wear a hazmat suit to work.

I am just going to put simply that I honestly find Game Maker to be a very bad choice to strive for if you wanted to create a video game for professional reasons. To put simply, based on my observations when I took a good look at Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka's YouTube channel "Gaming Garbage", I compare Game Maker to other gaming engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.) the same as I compare MS Paint to Photoshop:

Game Maker is like MS Paint. It's okay if you use it for fun, to pass the time, or for the sake of a humorous in-joke, but you should stay away from it as much as possible if you are trying to actually compete with much bigger works, as in those developed by a full company in which you are creating it on your own. If one ignores a comment such as mine, they would very likely become loathed throughout the Internet and everybody will probably hate you forever. That is, unless you counteract such an action with a much, much better version of a similar action...

Of course you should strive towards Windows 7 over 8/8.1. I have a laptop that runs on Windows 8 (What? At the superstore I went to, Windows 8 laptops were my only choice. At least it came with a bag, a flash drive, and a wireless mouse!) and I can agree that Windows 8 is indeed oriented towards tablets. As for the tablet orientation, I can understand why they aimed towards such, since nowadays, tablets and net-books are upon a rise. Due to the fact that Windows 7 was designed in an era where tablets wasn't enough of an aspect to put a consideration into, I would indeed recommend Windows 7 over Windows 8.
