I thought it would be fun to share how we came to live in Torn.
Here is the story of how I and my husband found ourselves in this fine city:
Santoryu and I met a long time ago, in the conventional way a man meets a woman. We exchanged our howdie dos and swiftly began competing in everything. If he could lift 3 boxes of AK-47s, I would try for 4 boxes of AK-47s. If I could shoot a flys eye at a hundred yards, he could shoot a bacterium at one thousand. If he could rob a bank Id paint my butt on The Louvre. We found as we continued to compete that we were evenly matched, which makes bettering the other much more fun.
Love began to bloom from our battles, and instead of competing we began our co-ops. We were a force to be reckoned with, combining our talents to pull the best heists. I stilll remember the day we stole Donald Trumps toupees, and the moment Lady Gaga discovered her gold strait jacket was missing? Priceless.
Our love became so strong that we could not see a life without each other. So we got married.
But the more heists we pulled, the more bored we got. Life in the regular world was not epic enough for us. Thats when we heard about Torn, a bustling metropolis of scum and villainy. It was then we knew we would find an endless supply of like-minded criminals to share our interests of destruction and plundering, rogues who would provide us with the excitement we needed. So we hopped in our Ferrari 458 and made our way to the city. We have met some amazing jerks, and have both determined we finally found a place to call home.
In all seriousness...lighten up. No one it going to be butthurt by being called a name over the internet, but you should know better than to resort to such tactics while doing whatever you like doing on the forums.
Edit: We like to communicate, celebrate, and whine in peace. The mods simply enforce that.
It's a good thing, too! Torn is a wonderful community for criminals and vagabonds. Welcome to the family!
I definitely know where you're coming from. My husband thought it was a big thing to get $100. It was pretty fun to watch him get excited over something so small. But now we've grown.
We just recently got our own PI, and we are going to add an airstrip once our lease is up.
It's pretty awesome seeing girls playing this game. I'm always happy the more do, and hope that someday we overrun the guys. Bwahahahahahahh.... Your username is interesting. Are you spreading environmental awareness to the players as you go? :P
If you have any questions, talk to Bammy. He is looking for an employee with stats equal to or greater than 4k in endurance, manual, and intelligence for his 7-star sweet shop.
1) A good leader delegates so they don't have to involve themselves as much. Ched has already done this for other things...don't see why he can't for approval of newspaper articles. 2) Some folks really enjoy writing articles. There could also be a small incentive for those who are employed.... 10 points...20 points.... This could even be a special job which provides you with Torn training as you take each position. Something small so n00bs wouldn't flood it with applications.
I think permitting everyone to write articles would make the job too challenging...nobody wants to constantly filter through mostly cruddy writing.... There is a section of the newspaper for that already, I think....
I think different articles like articles in real life would be fun.... torn's richest, Torn players filing bankruptcy, admins hospitalized by what faction, and who made the killing blow....
People can submit their hilarious or interesting run-ins with other Torn players that they'd submit to the news staff.... ex. bounty wars, how Torn has brought them closer to people IRL.... I think if users who stood out got articles written about them the newspaper would be a whole lot more interesting.
I like the ideas concerning the newspaper hierarchy, and also concerning the interviewing of random players...though I would prefer it to be players of interest, in order to keep that part intriguing and interesting. Active users in chats and forums.
What I've done recently is I've been giving expensive stuff away to users on an old site I don't care about anymore, then tell them about Torn. That's worked once.
I've gotten two of my friends into it because I've explained it's like Grand Theft Auto, only text-based, and you get to build your character...forever....
I feel some socializing and interaction needs to go on so you can help them get to level 10 and get the awesome bonuses...but I haven't gotten to that stage of recruitment yet.
I don't blame all men. Just the rapists. Men make up the supermajority of rapists, so men get picked on. They even rape men more than women do. -shrugs-
And I also acknowledge men get falsely accused in order for women to look better, but in this case there was no way the bf could have found out, she isn't pregnant, to the best of my knowledge, and she's giving off all the signs of a victimized woman.
We don't know who the alleged rapist is, so there isn't some innocent male receiving the backlash of her alleged lies.
I see no reason not to give her the benefit of the doubt, this time.
Also, leaving a loved one in one of their greatest moments of need is a jerk move. Love don't work that way. If you find someone you care about is broken, you don't leave, you help.
Also, for all you fellows out there.... men rape women while women are under the influence. Fact. She may even only be conscious enough to walk.
It's her fault for getting drunk. She shouldn't have compromised her cognitive functions in an unsafe atmosphere....
But it's not her fault she got raped. No man has a right to a woman's body while she's under the influence of mind-altering substances. In fact, I'm pretty certain fellows like you all are definite contributing factors as to why women are afraid to talk about their rapes, and such things end up unreported.
I made the post with the presumption he intends to give her the benefit of the doubt no matter what we say.
I know if I was legit raped I'd report it, but lots of people, including men, are pressed by societal pressures to keep their mouths shut about rape...so I'm not going to rule her out as dishonest.
Raped or not, I'm guessing you want to stay with her and help her through the shame and guilt. If I were you I'd recommend she not get intoxicated again, because apparently she doesn't know how to partake in the joys of liquor with trustworthy sorts.
I have a friend who was raped twice, once while unconscious and once while awake. I think she and your girlfriend may be too naive, and that's how she ended up in her compromising circumstances.
So far as coping goes...I'd recommend doing what you've already been doing and continue forgiving. You want justice, which is understandable, but if there's nothing you can do about it I'd recommend forgiving her, may be yourself, and possibly the offender, if need be. Dwelling on this horrifying reality will only lead to more unnecessary pain.
Your girlfriend is currently struggling with self hate...so she needs to forgive herself.
And...if you guys find him again, you don't necessarily need the law to serve retribution....
