Just made this today - please give me feedback so I can improve it if necessary. The link I am providing is READ ONLY; this means you MUST make a copy and then you will have full edit rights within YOUR google drive. This is to protect the master version and so I am the only one who can make changes. Please let me know if anything needs changed and I will do as ASAP and give you credit.
How to use:
1) Update the "Dead Cards" table by deleting cards as they appear - this will keep the odds correct (as far as I know) for future hands. You should undo all changes ( so all cards are put back) the hand following the shuffle icon appearing. This should also be correct, but let me know if the shuffle icon works differently.
2) The only change you need to make between hands is the "your card" section (red if there is no card, meaning you need to input something here), and of course the "dead cards" table, which is updated by deleting cards as they are used, until the shuffle icon.
Known Issues/Changes TODO: -Live update of remaining cards in the deck (static 52 right right now) (FIXED) - Added 2 new tabs a while ago - Legend and Directions - self explanatory tbh Additional Directions From User
1) You start a game of hi/lo and your first card is a 10 of clubs 2) You go into Critical's spreadsheet, click on the 10 of clubs, and then hit delete...so now that's considered a "dead" card 3) You guess correctly and the revealed card is a 9 of hearts 4) Go into Critical's spreadsheet, click on the 9 of hearts, and then hit delete...so now that's considered a "dead" card 5) The next card is a Jack of Diamonds....*
*Now you know there's 50 cards left and the 10 of clubs and the 9 of hearts aren't there anymore...so now you have to determine ok, so there's 3 Jacks, 4 Queens, 4 Kings, and 4 Aces in the higher or equal to category, but there's 3 10's, 3 9's, 4 8's, 4 7's, 4 6's, 4 5's, 4 4's, 4 3's, and 4 2's left...so just by looking at it the odds are much greater that the card will be lower than the Jack of Diamonds, but to figure out the math: Higher (or equal to) Jack Odds at this point in the game: 15/50 = .30 = 30% chance that the next card is higher than or equal to the Jack of Diamonds Lower then the Jack Odds at this point in the game: 34/50 = .68 = 68% chance that the next card is lower than the Jack of Diamonds
**Boy did I goof! I meant to say the odds were 15/49 and 34/49 since the Jack of Diamonds is already drawn leaving us with 49 unknown cards left. So the revised odds are: Higher or equal: 30.6% Lower: 69.3%
Credit for the above 1-5, *, and ** goes to Kakabu 100%; Because of him, I've added 2 additional sheets to the link in the original post to hopefully clarify more fully the designed use case and notations. More feedback is encouraged as I will continually improve the content here based on it, and hopefully get some of you guys that highly coveted 25 streak merit!
You can't download it because Google Sheets and Excel have slightly different syntax for formulas - it will only work properly within Google Sheets via the link. Making a Microsoft Excel based H/L Calculator would be much, much better; however, like you said, it would require users to have the program in order to use, which defeats my main goal of having anybody (mac/poverty/etc) able to utilize it fully without limitation.
EDIT:// I've also updated both the original post and calculator itself based on your feedback. I've messaged you too with a bit more details as far as the weird tables and methods of calculating odds. Yay for Google Sheets limitations and hacky workarounds!
